Jean Murray
Jean Murray asked Ray Anyasi:

Hi Ray, I'm a new author to the scene. I have a feeling I will like your books! I include some of 'Idi Amin's' in my almost finished crime/fiction book 'Shame so Deep'. As my book is crime fiction, is it ok to use references to Idi Amin's reign of terror? My characters are fictional. Kind Regards Mrs Jean Murray

Ray Anyasi hello Jean,

i am awfully sorry my response is coming this late. for some reason i can't explain, i did not see this message nor saw a notification of it by mail.

to answer your question, in my opinion, as long as your characters are fictional and as long as you put that little disclaimer about your characters and scenes being fictional and totally a creation of your imagination on the copyright page, then it is completely okay to use references to Idi Amin's reign. this will make your fiction come into real life.

i did same in my book Ujasiri which is about Joseph Kony.

i sincerely hope my response did not come too late and is helpful.

accept my best wishes on your new book and please send me a link when it is eventually published.

Warm Regards.

Ray Anyasi
