What would your assigned high school summer reading list look like?

I had to Google what this was. We don't have assigned summer reading lists here. But if I was a high school teacher -- and everyone should be thankful I'm not -- here's what I'd get the kids to read.
1. Nineteen Eighty-Four. Because it may be the greatest novel ever written. And bonus points would be awarded to the kids who pointed out the irony of being forced to read it.
2. Jasper Jones. One of my favourite Aussie YA books.
3. Deadly, Unna? Another great Aussie YA book. It has a lot of football in it, so boys can bring themselves to read it. But then it sneakily puts other things in behind the football, forcing boys to think about Issues.
4. All Quiet on the Western Front. One of the most brilliant novels of war ever written. Both banal and terrifying, and heartbreaking.
5. Stardust by Neil Gaiman. So that after reading All Quiet on the Western Front they remember how to smile again.
I said I'd make a terrible teacher, right?

I just finished "Darker Space" and was just as enamored with it as I was with "Dark Space" before, so please tell me that there will be a third book! I mean, the story didn't really seem finished and I would love to know more about what's going to happen. And if there's dark and darker, there has to be darkest, too, right? Of course, it's completely your decision, but I would definitely love to have a continuation ^^

Hi Lisa! I must say, I'm really looking forward to a potential Steter fic. ^_____^ But I wanted to ask, in your last blog post you pointed out that you read gay fiction but write m/m fiction - how do you distinguish between the two? There are enough definitions out there to make my head spin!

This is about your Sterek fanfic, specifically the "I Know Where Babies Come From" series. Will you be writing more fanfic related to that series? We all want more and are prepared to beg, borrow, steal, harass, bribe - whatever it takes - to get more about these wonderful characters. Seeing a grown up Conor, Luke, Claudia would be so cool! And Stiles and Derek as they grow older. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
