Goodreads asked James D. Mortain:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

James D. Mortain When you reach that point when you think your manuscript 'will do,' it most likely won't. Although you are desperate to reach the next stage of the publishing assault course, take a step away, have another pair of eyes review your work, and prepare yourself for a few more months of editing. Only when you are convinced that nothing more can be done to IMPROVE your work, can you move to the next stage. Happy editing :)
