Goodreads asked Christopher Hart:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Christopher Hart Most writers are told - wrongly, in my opinion - to free your mind, go for a stroll along the beach. Fine advice, if you want to build sandcastles. But if you want to make progress in what you're writing, you know that the frustration of being "stuck" will prevent you from enjoying much else. Instead of giving up, start writing something else - something totally different. It can be a few paragraphs in your diary, or doing drawings for no reason at all. Then come back to your work, and you'll be refreshed and ready to go. This approach gives you a break from your work, but also keeps you in your creative mode. Try it and see how it works for you.
