Goodreads asked Valerie L. Ravenscroft:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Valerie L. Ravenscroft I panic a lot. LOL
Seriously, writer's block happens to everyone, even those writers who've got, like, sixty novels under their belt. It happens.
I've heard many tricks over the years about how to overcome it, but here are two that seem to work for me:

1) You're stuck in your story because you don't know where to go from there?
Take out a piece of paper and write on it everywhere that it CANNOT go from there. Eventually, you'll be left with pretty nice options of where to go to next.

2) You're stuck because your story suddenly feels stupid and unoriginal? Take out a piece of paper and write on it the first idea that comes to mind about what should happen next, then discard it. Then write the second idea that comes to mind, and discard it. Do that three more times and you should have a pretty good twist in your hands by then. :)
