Goodreads asked Jennifer Brandes Hepler:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Jennifer Brandes Hepler I have never really experienced writer's block. My philosophy is that when I'm writing a first draft, I just write whatever I need to get the scene done, and I don't let myself freeze up about it, because it's just a first draft, it doesn't matter if it sucks. On the second draft, I usually find that it was better than I thought when I wrote it. And if it's not, the bad parts jump out at me right away and are easy to fix. I do a LOT of drafts, so it never really makes sense to me to get stuck on any one of them -- just write it or edit it or leave it and move on. If you miss something, you can always get it in the next pass.
