Goodreads asked David James Hollamby:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

David James Hollamby I've always found my best writing comes from sitting down and letting an initial idea spring to mind naturally. From there I'll let the idea grow organically as I write. As the idea grows, the direction of the story follows.

I quite often sit and watch films and TV shows and end up wondering why I didn't write something in that genre. I love a thousand different stories but the original one's I write will always be a million times more authentic (and hopefully more enjoyable) than trying to recreate something that already exists.
