Alberto Castillo
Alberto Castillo asked Paul Tremblay:

Paul, love AHFOG and loving DADR. I love reading your books and asking myself "Is this paranormal or just plain old normal?" The uncertainty of not knowing exactly what is happening is something I haven't seen in a book since probably House of Leaves. What do you think scares people in this day and age?

Paul Tremblay Thanks, Alberto!

I do think ambiguity and being unsure is not only scary but also closely models our modern-age existence.

As for what scares other people? Jeeze, I'm not sure. I concentrate on what scares me and hopefully if I do it well, it'll scare other people too. Or if not scare, then unsettle. Horror as a reveal of a terrible truth, and then asking, so what are you going to do now?
