Goodreads asked Christine Rees:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Christine Rees Do not get discouraged. You have to work hard to accomplish your end goal. Whether that is completing your full manuscript or sending your book to publishers - rejection and writer's block can be disappointing. You have to push through it.

The best advice I can give is this:
"Work for something more than you dream of it."

The world doesn't owe you anything because you wrote a story. If you want it published, you have to prove that the work is worth a second look. Publishers and agents are always looking for a fresh idea or a cool new perspective/twist. Show them what you can do.
