Goodreads asked Edita A. Petrick:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Edita A. Petrick You get to live, love, laugh, cry, die and be re-born again with all your characters. In most cases when I write, the book has been planned all the way until the end but there are some places that I haven't finished "thinking-through" and when I actually get there it's kind of exciting to stand on the crossroads - like which way will the dice roll..do I send the characters over the cliff one more time...I guess it's being in charge that's so satisfying. Definitely not the case for most of us at our regular place of work.
