Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Jane Austen created the perfect love story in Pride and Prejudice. I don't think there are many who would argue that. There is a certain realism in the relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy that many newer romances sadly lack.

It's not love at first sight, but rather a building of feelings overtime. There's a message to the world as well - Love takes sacrifices. One needs to put aside one's own idiosyncrasies aside to be truly happy in the arms of another.

I have to admit, I also have another, more personal reason for choosing this couple. My parents had their own love story. When they first married and times were tough, they read Pride and Prejudice to each other every night in bed. It was all the entertainment the had and needed.

Sadly, they are both gone now. When I think about Darcy and Elizabeth, I can still see the way mom's eyes would light up at the mention of their names.

Love is a beautiful thing.
