The first couple to spring to mind is Vera and Jack Duckworth who featured strongly, some years ago, in Coronation Street, (a TV soap set in the North of England.)
The writers of this show gave this couple's relationship warmth and depth, tempered by gritty humor. Their on-screen rows were sometimes moving, sometimes comical, but the chemistry between the actors made the writer's job easy. They are long since gone from the screen, but the memory of these two characters still lingers with me.
