“Losing Faith”
Thinking about something does not make it
happen. I was thinking about calling
you, but I didn’t; I was hoping that you
would call me, but the phone never rang. Once,
I had the power to will things into
being. I would dream about you, and you
would appear from thousands of miles away;
we answered each other before we called.
No one would believe how we were back then.
What I liked the most was the way the old
people smiled at us even though they knew
our fortune was not to be together.
They liked the way we accepted our fate;
they knew that heaven sometimes comes too late.
