Curious to hear your opinion of this one: a good read, or mainly research value?

Like that beautifully devilish narcotic opium itself, De Quincey's 'Confessions of an English Opium Eater'requires an hour or so (of reading), to peak, and take full effect. The so-called 'falling action' (remaining 50-odd pages), is scribed in a more of an informative style, differing from the poetic first part. All in all, an excellent balance.
