Mattie didn't come up again until the end, when Lisbeth was in labor even though she was the best character in the whole book! I missed her too.

I was disappointed in this book. The depth was not there and it felt non-realistic in it's simplicity. Everyone was too perfect and too lucky! The Kitchen House is a much better book on this topic.

I liked the book a lot and think due to it being an easy read with historical value it would be a good one for Young Adult as well as adult.

I really did but I think the author did this for a reason. I really LOVED this book!
