Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) OK, I'll follow...
1. Food: I eat to live, don't live to eat! ;)
2. Drink: I love water but if anyone can find me a bottle of "cidre doux" (hard cider for my US friends) well... anytime! :)
3. Color: Blue
4. Book: too many
5. Song: too many
6. TV Show: none because I stopped watching TV in the early 90s... sorry...
7. Movie: too many - either based on genre or male protagonist! ;)
8. Actor/Actress: Muse #1 Keanu Reeves. Coming up Hritik Roshan
9. Animal: do unicorns count? OK, if it must be a real animal, I guess I'll copy Lela - elephant (the only animal co-protagonist in one of my books. The horses didn't come out as fully drawn as my elephant, LOL)
10. Activity (aside from reading): writing, drawing, watching movies, and I love to dance but I'm too lazy to do it! :)

Aww, man. The worst thing you can ask a hobbyist is their definitive favorites of anything! Ok, I'll play along but I'm going to cheat and rig the questions as well as provide multiple answers. (^_^)

Food: 3-way tie between sushi, pad kee mao (drunken noodles), and pho
Drink: Hennessy. I also love pinot noir. (My name is Kay and I am an alcoholic.)
Colors: Crimson red and pomegranate purple. I made up pomegranate purple.
Book: Mmmmm... I'm going to say Orwell's 1984 because it's the first book I fell in love with.
Songs: I refuse to have one favorite song, but there are dozens that I never get tired of: Sade's Cherish the Day, The World is Yours by Nas, Santana's Black Magic Woman, In a Sentimental Mood by John Coltrane and Duke Ellington, Counting Stars by Nujabes...
Lyricists/emcees: Nas, GZA, MF Doom, and Black Thought. In that order.
Bands: The Black Keys, The White Stripes, Modest Mouse, Queens of the Stone Age, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, The Offspring, Smashing Pumpkins, Young the Giant, Kings of Leon....
TV Shows: That's not anime? Xena: Warrior Princess, Serenity, Heroes, I Love Lucy, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Flight of the Conchords, Top Chef, Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, 48 Hours, Deadliest Warrior, MANswers (most guilty pleasure), UFC, TWD, Game of Thrones, Tom & Jerry, TMNT, Avatar, Daria, Beavis & Butthead, Hey Arnold, The Wild Thornberrys, As Told by Ginger, Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Kids, Courage the Cowardly Dog, South Park, Robot Chicken, ATHF, American Dad, Family Guy, Black Dynamite. I looooove my cartoons. Also, I know DBZ, Sailor Moon, and Pokemon are anime but I'm going to mention them because they're so engrained in American culture.
Movies: I'm only going to mention titles from my two favorite genres or I'm going to be sitting here typing forever.
- Horror: Dawn of the Dead, 30 Days of Night, Ringu, The Crazies, 28 Days Later, Hellraiser, Saw, Halloween, The Mist, Night of the Living Dead, Eraserhead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th. I love the classics. Less run-ins with overly done special effects.
- Martial Arts: Yojimbo, everything Bruce Lee, Ip Man, Once Upon a Time in China, Legendary Weapons of China, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Iron Monkey, Tay Du Ky (Journey to the West 1996), Master of the Flying Guillotine, Riki-Oh
I also love comedies, Disney movies, documentaries, and movies centered around historical wars and comic books.
Actors/Actresses: I don't keep up with Hollywood so my knowledge and familiarity of movie stars are very superficial. I like watching Rosario Dawson (My wife in another life), Michelle Rodriguez, Lucy Liu, Lucille Ball, Bruce Willis, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, and Ryan Gosling (My pending boo thang in this life).
Comedians: Chris Rock and Richard Pryor
Animals: Vultures, dragons, and dogs
Activities: DJing, making music playlists, writing/blogging, reviewing comic books, cooking (I recently learned how to bake ^_^), downloading iOS apps, ogling new electronics, reading tech-related news, listening to podcasts, freeing up memory on my hard drive (it's a never-ending task that I unusually grew to enjoy), collecting morbid dolls, playing Pokemon on my DS (although I'm gradually getting too old for this shit), editing photos, making prints, and looking for new hobbies. Yes, I do leave the house on occasion for concerts, food festivals, and to shoot pool and get wasted with my hoodlum friends.

Tiffany McFly (tiffmcfly) Lela wrote: "Tiffany, explain to this clueless person here what geocaching is O.o"

Geocaching is a GPS treasure hunt-esque activity.
People hide various sized caches (usually containing various trinkets &c.) in cool areas. From there, they post the coordinates & description on the main website.
Then other geocachers get the coordinates, put them on their GPS and look for them and can take/add stuff to the caches.

It's SUPER fun.

6. TV Show: Such a hard question. Probably Sherlock.

My girls are Katie (named for the Libertines song) and Sam (named for an ex-girlfriend-eesh). They're 6 and 12, and their personalities are just like Tigger and Eeyore. The older one has no tail (they docked it too short) and she's all slow and morose like Eeyore. The little one is bouncy as hell and just crazy. Love them to pieces. They're a lot of fun.

message 28: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (xitomatl) Okay, I'll play too!

Food: Beef stroganoff. But only if my dad makes it. Because nothing compares to his.

Drink: Non-alcoholic: Murchie's Irish Breakfast tea. Alcoholic: Dry martini (I prefer a 2:1 ratio that favours the vermouth over gin). Extra olives.

Color: Green.

Book: It's a tie between Fahrenheit 451 (Bradbury) and The Catcher In The Rye (Salinger)

Song: That's a tough one - I'm not sure if I have a favourite. "Hooray For Me" by Bad Religion is probably the closest I have to a favourite.

TV Show: Currently in production: American Horror Story or Futurama (talk about polar opposites...). Not in production: The Twilight Zone.

Movie: Either Brazil or Bladerunner.

Actor/Actress: Male: Orson Welles. Female: Barbara Stanwyck.

Animal: Dogs. It's such a boring answer, but they're so goddamned lovable.

They are both fawns, but Jack, the older one, is very flashy and Max not so much. Jack has white socks all the way up his front legs, and half up his back legs, the center of his face, and a totally white neck. Max is more traditionally reddish brown with an all black face, some white on his chest and toes. Jack is just a love, and has fans and friends who actually come over to visit him instead of us. Max is a ball of energy that just doesn't stop, but he's still a puppy so, you know.
I love your dogs names too! We name our boxers after boxers, so their full names are Jack Dempsey and Max Baer. We've only ever had fawns, but I've always wanted a brindle. I think that swirly marble coat is just so beautiful. =)
Your girls sound precious! I love that each boxer has their own unique personality. They are such expressive dogs, aren't they?

message 30: by Anna (Bananas) (new)

Anna (Bananas) | 757 comments They make such good pets. They're very sweet. I love how you named yours! Very clever and funny.
Have you noticed how boxers have similar barks sometimes? I've heard a couple random boxers that sounded just like Katie.
Do either of yours "talk"? Sam is very noisy. My boyfriend can get her all amped where she'll bark and howl back as he talks to her. It's funny as hell. She also snores like an old man. That-not so funny.

message 32: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 133 comments Anna (Bananas!) wrote: "Yes very expressive! Lol"

Yeah! They talk. It's hilarious when they do. We try to get them to keep it up if they start. Our dogs bark pretty rarely; we call it "boofing" bcuz they only bark once or twice, but it's loud and scary. Little Max likes to growl a lot when he's playing. And if my Dad is playing his guitar, then Max will howl along to the music. But he only howls to the blues. Its the damn funniest thing I've ever seen.
Snoring...hahahaha! All boxers snore like crazy, especially as they get older. It's their squished faces.
Yeah, boxers are pretty much the best. =)

Anna (Bananas!) wrote: "Kay, I'm still wondering why you like vultures. Dying to know. :)"

In Tibet Buddhism, they practice sky burials for the dead instead of digging graves. A body is placed up on a makeshift tower on a mountaintop for vultures to feed on. Because of the Buddhist belief in rebirth, there's no need to preserve dead bodies as they only serve as empty vessels for the soul. Feeding bodies to birds of prey also reinforces the idea of energy redistribution. What's unique about vultures is that they rarely attack healthy animals, they only feed off the wounded or dying. People always associate vultures with death in an eerie way, but in this instance, they serve a vital role in reincarnation so that's why I'm quite fond of them. Although I don't practice Buddhism religiously, they spark my interest because my great grandma is a Buddhist monk, and I admire her deeply. Not to mention, getting sent off in the skies instead of being hidden in dirt simply does way more poetic justice =]

Alicyn | 1 comments Here's my two cents! ^_^

1. Food: This is hard - I just started a gluten-free diet, so I don't yet know what my faves are now ^_^
2. Drink: Coffee is first, but I love a good mulled wine
3. Color: I love all colors, especially when they are dark and brooding...
4. Book: Queen of Angels by Greg Bear, followed a close second by the Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson; I also love the Song of Ice and Fire series, and too many others to count!
5. Song: I listen to everything from Burzum to Jamiroquai, the only no-no's are new country and gospel.
6. TV Show: I don't watch much television, but I have kept up with Grimm (I live in Portland after all) and Once Upon a Time - and of course, Doctor Who
7. Movie: Se7en; The Color of Magic; Bell, Book and Candle; Trollhunter; 7 Zwerge; LOTR (and soon The Hobbit!) and more - feel free to ask, I love film!
8. Actor/Actress: Gary Oldman
9. Animal: Chicken
10. Activity (aside from reading): I knit (mostly Doctor Who scarves right now), cycle, and learn. I love learning new things no matter what, it's always fun!
