I came here from Gargi's page. I have this book: I have read some ten pages; I have seen the film.
I can't read it before mid-October as I am not free but if I am egged on (as in here), I may really after 12 October.

That'll be fine. You have to finish it by the end of the month.

That is motivating. I'll start tomorrow.

I will be reading this in Ranchi in 3rd and 4th week of October. I am deliberately writing it here so that I do not forget it. Also that I am publicly shamed if I do not read it. Amen.
I am on page 269. I think I cannot finish it by tomorrow ; I am busy with other things.I did read other things in last ten days and could not find time for this one.
It is a wonderful book: I wish I had not seen the film earlier than the book.
I finished it at 1 am just now. PS: I think I should quit this group because I can't keep up with monthly targets given my own schedule with books.
I absolutely loved this novel!! I thought the narrative was incredibly realistic, I even read a few of the sentences out loud just to hear the southern twang. I felt that it kept a great balance between humor (there were times when I actually laughed out loud) and the gravity of the social climate of the time. Really an amazing book!
