Thanks for posting it, Aloha! It's a very interesting interview, indeed. I love the part where he talks about Iron Council and the painful relationship between Judah and Cutter. That was the aspect of the book that really made me feel for the characters, and it's really interesting to see what CM had to say about it.

Stray fact: "As a young teenager I really wanted to be a marine biologist."For whoever it was who thought Mieville might be gay, he was living with a woman when this short Q&A interview was published.

On the publisher's website, there's a good interview mostly (but not solely) about Embassytown, in which he is also asked which of his books he'd recommend as an intro to his works (he gives TWO answers):http://www.panmacmillan.com/author/ch...
Thanks for the link Cecily ... I thought it was interesting (and exciting) that he refers to possibly doing more books/stories from Embassytown's immerverse!

I think I didn't quite think he was gay, but wondered if he might be bi. Of course, him being with a woman doesn't rule that out, but who cares- it certainly sounds like good news for us women! :D
(Not that I personally ever had a chance with dear old CM, just sayin' for womenkind in general. :P )
