She goes through life while her mother attempts to make her sick and lies about things that are potentially wrong with Julie to get attention and gain support from people that dont truly care about her otherwise. Julie tells her survival story and how she overcame everything that her mentally disabled mother put her through.
2. I gave this book four stars because it is a very heart touching story and it shows the reality of what people acvtually live through everyday. It is also a great representation of how someone can overcome their hardships and become a success despite all that has gone wrong.
3. "But the memories that hang heaviest are the easiest to recall." Julie says this when she is reflecting on the events that happened to her as a child in the beginning. SHe says this when talking about planning ways to kill her father and when recalling how her mother fed her lead suckers to make her sick.
4. This book is a perfect memoir example. It gives clear images as to how horribly this girl is treated. You can see her locked in a trailer waiting for some sort of food and that is what hits the heart most about a memoir; it is the sign that it is well written. When reading this, writing a memoir seems so much mroe clear.
5.I would recommend this to any person who feels that they can handle reading very sick actions that were done to an innocent little girl. It will envoke some very strong emotions but it is a great read all in all.
