This is where we post our ideas about aliens. Like the Greys or the Borah`kali.

I've always imagined lots of aliens being pure light with their brain in a supercomputer on their own planet :p
I think it is stupid that people dreamed up aliens to look weird. If there is really intelligent life elsewhere they look kinda like us! And they may even talk one of this planet's many languages but that is highly improbable.

How about a super-intelligent shade of blue?
How about a super-intelligent shade of blue?
I would like to inquire as to why we're all thinking of aliens as intelligent life. Are we only referring to lifeforms able to reach us in some way? Because if we ever do make contact with beings from another planet they could just as well bear more resemblance in behaviour to, say, a dog (not that dogs are unintelligent) and have no developed social structure. If they were to find us they'd have to be organized but if we find a whole planet able to sustain life then every creature down to the insects (assuming there exists in this place some form of insect-like family) would be an alien species. Unless, of course, aliens are only technically aliens when they come to us and not when on their home planet. Would that be like calling someone a foreigner while in their country? It's all very confusing...
Anyone ever play Spore?
Unless they were humans that branched off from planet Earth and found a new planet to take over just to prove all the scientists that they were wrong about not being able to find a planet with oxygen other than Earth.

:D
One of the few things I remember from that book.

Oh yes. I've most definately played Spore.

Lol! I wonder how it would feel.

I did. Regular space stage was awesome for a while but one can only spend so much time alternating between selling spices for intergallactic currency and defending one's many colonial planets from space pirates before it gets old.
Earth is that bad, but we are always covered by the seemingly endless veil of hope, most of which is fake.
I am writing a novel, too!

No, not to be rude, but if you multitask you will never achieve your goals to the fullest extent possible, which for some may be infinite. You should try to make a priority checklist.
Do you mind if I edit it?
1. Get my head out of the clouds. Put my imagination at the top of my priority list.
2. Realize that I must chase a hopeless goal after realizing what is possible.
3. Find out what I will enjoy, and put the other stuff at the end of the priority list.
4. Realize what I can do to pass the time. Hopefully stumble upon an unintended way to make a difference in the world, but I will not try to.

You're asking an invalid question. We're not here for a reason. That would be impossible, as nothing can matter if there is no-one to care about it. The fact that one day nothing that we have done in our lifetime will matter is the reason I'm focused on doing what I enjoy rather than trying to make a difference. Not that you shouldn't try, if that's what you're passionate about. Because the world is messed up and while we'll never fix it, we can make it a better place in which to spend our insignificant little lives.

We will all eventually die, and all will be forgotten. Just like they talked about in the Fault in our Stars.

Why are you so focused on making a difference, if I may ask? If you get hyper-focused on changing the world-not to be rude-you will either not enjoy what you are doing or never accomplish anything.
What I am saying is, it is ok to want to change the world, I am sure we all want to, but it is not really a goal. If you want to change the world, just go on a search engine and find something and fix it. If you want to change the world, you will probably end up doing something really boring/something you hate just to do it.
Yes, but you should not aim to make a scientific discovery, you should aim to study science and hope for the best.
