After hiring a carriage and instructed the coachman, Marcus stepped down first before helping Catherine out the carriage as they arrived at the Grover House. "Tori isn't around. I think I've heard her tell me she would visit a friend." he said as he led her towards the door.
She took his hand and got down the carriage. "Couldn't care less." she mumbled and sighed, "I suddenly feel tired."
((used the pics BTW))
Marcus smiled patiently, "You can sleep.. Or do whatever you want to do." They got in and Marcus motioned all the maids and the butler not to disturb them. He led them to the library. He let her sit down and he sat beside her still holding her hand.

Catherine sighed deeply and leaned to Marcus' shoulder, "Thank you." she mumbled in a small voice.
Marcus squeezed her hand reassuringly, "You're welcome." he whispered back, "We can just keep quiet or be as loud as you want as to be."
"Why did he do it?" she asked whispering, "Why was he that selfish? He act like he cares. Curse him."
Marcus wrapped an arm around Catherine, "Shush. Forget about him." he suggested, "Though let me watch when you try to punch him. I'll hold him for you to take aim."
Catherine couldn't help but giggled softly, "That's good plan." she said smiling a little, "I'll kick him hard in the shin."
"Be sure to kick his shin while I'm holding him. You might accidentally injure me." he said jokingly, "I think Victoria mentioned seeing you at a flower shop. Do ladies give flowers now?"
"She dislike me. No, she hates me. Why is that?" she asked lifting her head from his shoulder to look at Marcus, "When we were young she doesn't want to play with me. I end up playing with you and Conner."
"Don't mind her too." he said pulling her head back to his shoulder, "She reminds me of Conner, to be honest. She's nice if she wants too and nasty when needed. So I try to treat her like Conner. That way we get along fine."
"Yoppf trefpt perf lif yoppt trefpt Koneft?" Catherine mumbled unintelligible. But it sounded like, 'You treat her like you treat Conner?' She pushed away from his shoulder with a gasped, "How do you treat Conner? Like he's an idiot?" she added.
"I wish that was just as simple." he snicked but shook her head, "I treat her like she's always right. That she knows better. Even though she's usually wrong. She's full of pride. Tori is. Its the best thing about her and the worst."
"Oh. Just like Conner." she agreed which earned her a rakish grin from Marcus which made her stomach flip all of a sudden. She was confused for a moment but she just laugh it off.
Marcus noticed that, whatever that is. Catherine stopped for a minute, like she was confuse. He cocked his head watching her laugh awkwardly, "Erin? Are you alright? Let's have some snacks, you must be famished cause I am." he said standing up and ring the some tea.
Catherine sighed, relieved that Marcus didn't press for answers. She straighten out her skirt and pull her legs up the sofa, her shoes hidden beneath her skirts. She was leaning back and looking up the ceiling when Marcus came to sit beside her again, "Marcus.." she called his name.
"Hmmm?" he didn't bother to turn to her as he was reading some letters that was placed on his table.
"Do you think I'll ever get married? I mean, you know my brother. It would have made more sense to me if he would just lock me up a tower and just send me food and water 3 times a day." She closed her eyes and groaned, "I'm being melodramatic, aren't I?" she then peeked with one eye open at Marcus.
Marcus nearly dropped his letters and turned to her shock, "Catherine." he could only say and then shook his head. Throwing the letters on a nearby corner table, he rake his hair with his fingers, "You are the most melodramatic woman I have ever met." he groaned back at her, but his voice laced with laughter, "A tower? and 3 meals in a day? That's the best you can think of?" and he let out a chuckled.
"Oh shut up." she laughed with him and the rolled to her side with her feet still up, "I was just kidding you know that. Though not that Conner is that heartless, he'd lock me up for the sheer fun of hearing me curse him at the top of my voice. Its a wonder how ever he'd ever get married. His wife would be mad in 2 weeks time after their wedding."
"He'll marry, I don't doubt that." he leaned on his side, facing Erin, "And I don't doubt that his wife would be crazy enough to marry him. Is he still the same? Flirting but not courting?" he asked curiously.
She nodded, "Still is. Though.." she toyed with the lace on her skirt, "There's someone he's pursuing, I'm not that sure if he is serious. You know him. But we don't know.. Maybe he's changing." she shrugged, "Her name's Judith Valentine, the Duke of Hastings' younger sister."
Marcus let out a whistle, "Julian's sister. Haven't met the lady but the duke's sister?" he couldn't believe it, "What is she like? Pretty? Petite? How did this girl caught Conner's eye?"
Nodding again, "Yes. The duke's sister." she agreed and remembering the duke himself, made Catherine rubbed her head. Of all the people she had a fancy with. She looked at Marcus, now that's a man she should marry. He was her friend, he knew her and doesn't get on her bad side, unlike other people. "Oh, Judith... She's a nice girl. I like her a lot. She's a bit stubborn and childish and so I am, so Conner can handle her."
"Hmm.." Marcus nodded at every word from Erin, "That doesn't seem to be the usual Conner flirts with. Something strange is going on. Might be serious for your brother."
"I guess.." Catherine muttered, "That is good for my brother. Would it be good for me?" she looked at Marcus' eyes.
"Of course it would. He'll be busy with her and he wouldn't have the time to check on you everytime. And you'll just have your mother to deal with, which is I know you can handle." he said reassuringly, "Why won't you think it wouldn't be good for you?"
"I don't know.." Erin shrugged and before she can continue, a knock on the door stop her. She put down her legs and resume a proper sitting. A maid, name Flo carried a tray filled with plates of scones, sandwiches and a pot of tea.
"You worry to much. It would be fine." Marcus picked up a scone and pop it into his mouth even before Flo could put it down, "Am I right Flo? Erin here is a worrywart, isn't she?"
"Uhmm.." Flo looked at Marcus shyly and to Erin, "I can't answer that, my lord. I'm in to position to offer my opinion." she said in a small voice and finished placing the food on the center table.

Catherine send Marcus a glare, "Stop teasing Flo." she warned and pour them some tea. She handed Marcus his cup with a splash of milk while she prepare hers with milk and lots of sugar. "Oh don't mind him, Flo. He's the worrywart." she said smiling at the maid, "Its been so long since I saw you, how have you been fairing?" she asked.
'Leave it to Erin to have a chat with the maid...' Marcus shook his head as he watched them. He took a sip of his tea and ate another scone and took a sandwich.
"Uhm.. Yes, my lady. Its been years but you still look as pretty since the last time I saw you.." Flo answered with a small smile, "I'm fine. Thank you for asking. We miss having you here, my lady. The cook sends his regards. He said you should have visit him in the kitchens than..." she looked at Marcus and then said hurriedly, "come here with the master."

Catherine choke on her tea, she cough in time into her hankie before she burst out laughing, "Oh god.. I missed everyone." she said to Flo, "I'll make sure to pass the kitchen before I go home but I'll have dinner here so tell the cook to prepare something special."
Flo beamed to Catherine and curtsy before leaving the library. Marcus laughed at Catherine when they were alone again, "Are you sure you're not a Catherine Ross? It seems your the master of the house?" he snickered as he finish his sandwich.
"Oh quiet you!" she said playful as she threw her napkin at him, "Tori would gladly tell everyone that she is adopted than to have me as her sister." she shook her head and drink tea.
Catching the cloth in his hand before he put down his teacup, "That's not true. She'd tell everyone that you were adopted not her." he chuckled.
She rolled her eyes and continue to sip her tea, eat some scones and a sandwich. "Where is she anyway?" she asked filling her and Marcus' teacups. "Your sister? And Sophie? Shouldn't she be with her mother?"
"That is a good question." he said taking his cup and taking a sip, "I have no idea. Though about Sophie, she with my grandparents."
"Shouldn't she be here?" she asked looking back at Marcus, "You know, she's such a sweet child to be Victoria's."
"I agreed with you on that." he said looking down his cup. He leaned back the couch and sighed, "She didn't want her. She didn't want Sophie.. How can't my sister want her?"
"Oh Marcus.." putting down her cup, she moved closer to Marcus and took his cup to place it down beside hers. Now, she took his hand, "Its silly to think we both have the same problems. You got a mean older sister and I have git for a older brother."
He laughed humorlessly, "You are right on that account." he ended it with another sighed, "Let's not talk about that too."
She smiled at his suggestion, "What do you want to talk about? News? Politics? Literature? No, not literature or I'll faint." she laughed.
"I read this one poem once.." his voice teasing, "Its about.." he then laughed with the look on Catherine's face, "Oh Erin.."
((sorry i didn't check this, I thought it wasn't my turn.))
Playfully hitting his arm, "Shut it, Ross." she stick out a tongue at him, "Just leave me in peace."

((No worries. I've been busy.))
Rubbing the arm Erin hit, "Fine. Suit yourself. I'll keep my mouth shut." he said and pour another cup of tea.

"You think you'll find someone to marry this season?" she asked, after a few minutes. She can't help the silence, its creeping her out. "You know you aren't getting any younger."
He nearly choke on a scone when he heard her last sentence, "I beg your pardon?" he looked at her like she grew an extra head, "Did you just said that to me?"
