I signed up for the NanoWrimo about a week ago and have been working on my characters and outline since then. Officially the competition started yesterday and I was wondering if anyone else signed up for it???

I've gone into the writing bit of this website & searched Nano... Lots of novels & novellas & started Nano's...Eeee! I like reading so much more ;)
Carolyn wrote: "I am at over 7K words in the first three days. So far I am really loving it."Well done Carolyn! I never write a lot (I'm more of a reader, as I've said previously- in school I get grades I'm really happy with for literature, but then it's like... I have to write something based on this?) One of my RL friends is doing it, so I go to her... 'I'll see what the word count calculator says & see if I wanna go for it.' I'm a member of the site so... It wants me to do 3000 but that's default, not calculated.
Edit: Had ten minutes, wrote 211 words as calculator said. Took a wild guess, 15 hours of writing during the month & got... 569700.
Don't think I will be writing that much somehow.
How about I go calculate a quarter & then a tenth of that? Too little?
((Must malfunction- 14,242 is my new target based on that & I worked out that if I write 211, it should be 1266 an hour. Google tells me 14,242 divided by 1266 rounds up to 12 hours. So if I spend 12 hours writing, that's what I can get. Sounds more reasonable.))
3K in the first three days. We'll see about today, but I think I'll mostly catch up tomorrow- I have a free day.
Oh my. I've not even done 1,000 yet. Although I did only sign up yesterday. I'm trying to make up for the days I've missed today :/ Btw, what happens on the 25th?
Pirl{or maybe Meg} wrote: "I did:D I sent out a letter to the whole group and everything. Didn't you see it?"Are you person who posted the link? That's where I found out about the challenge. I looked for post but it was too far behind... I don't know if there is better a better way to look for older post; I'm fairly new to the whole discussion board thing...
Anyway, I got started on Friday as of now I have 3,128. I'm hoping to catch up today.
Has anyone done this before? Can you share the experience?
Last day you can change rod count goal & they say who wins (no, it might depend what Nanowrimo you are signed up for... YWP anyone?Second year f doing YWP... Last year was hard- I was trying to rewrite a story I'd written for fun earlier & it was pretty cliche (can't get right spelling on iPad).
With my target every five days I need 2.5k roughly. Behind that...Sarah ✌ wrote: "What's YWP? And so my story has to be finished by the 25th of November?"
No. They begin it then Sarah. 30th at latest. For under-18s who want to enter but can have a lower target than 50k. They recommend 30k, but I'm aiming for less than that too.
Sarah ✌ wrote: "So should I be doing the YWP then? Not the one I'm doing now? Is that for adults only? O.o"If you're aiming for 50k+ you can actually own an account on both as you are under-18, but if you don't want to aim fr 50k then only be on YWP like me. You can join YWP too or instead. It is optional :D
Sarah ✌ wrote: "Okay. Cause I'm 14 and I just.. :/"Uh-huh, don't want to aim for 50k like me? Don't worry we are the same age. 14 is a good age. If I was an air cadet I could fly a plane. And I can work r volunteer... In fact, one of my friends just got an sent for modeling. She could have got an agent earlier but after 14 it seems so easier & better. Loads of people in my year still act older & aren't happy. I wouldn't want to be 16 yet!
Haha I don't wanna grow up :( One if my friends dresses like she's about twenty and wears heels FOR SCHOOL. She's a nightmare sometimes but then again she still is really immature a lot.
That's common... My friends are the same, it's like "You look more mature... As for acting? You're more immature than me, mate."((Edit: On YWP Pirl? Just so everybody knows YWP stands for Young Writer's Program, that's why it is separate! I really like the Dare Machine but I store them in case I'm low on words & have writers-block))
I know you all haven't finished (haha, who could have? 10k a day I don't THINK.When you do you can listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCpe_p... (NanoWrimo ate my soul). Until that, she's got 7 other songs related to our favorite event in November (unless you're awesome & have a birthday during November!)
I am ... but need just over 9000 today to bring me up to date!!I am on as ~ http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/participa...
I have started but I am not sure that anyone would really like the story I am writing. It's called: Does Love Always Feel This Way? and I would be more than pleased to post it here and I desperately need some advice and feedback.
I am still at it but I have developed an inner ear infection that is supposed to keep me off the computer - I just cover it with a tea towel and keep going. Susan I hope you do not mind but I added you as a Writing Buddy - I am Carly1267.
November is the most busy month for me so I don't have time to do NaNo. I'd do it if it was in March or something but I'm WAY too busy this time of year. Earlier this year my friends and I actually decided to have our own NaNoWriMo in February (and 1st of March) because we weren't busy then. I think my target was 20,000 but I sort of gave up 'cause I didn't like my story after about day 10 and I stopped at 6,500 wordsish. Then I started another one and did 1,500 words and gave up and started another and did 3,000. I guess I'm a bit too fussy and couldn't get rid of my "inner editor". Did anyone else download the worbooks? I downloaded Middle school and high school ones because I live on the UK so I didn't know which one I'd be at.
One thing I found is that it has gotten me to write everyday. Some days were crap others had moments of glitter, but it is only the first rough draft - something is down in black and white and that was wonderful to me. I did get my 50K+ but I am still not done my story I will continue with it but now I can take my time and work it into a social life that revolves around Christmas.
Dorilis Camacho I was very motivated when I started; I had a good feeling but perhaps I chose the wrong year because though my heart was in the right place my mind has been very busy (during this month I have started law school, moved and quit my job). I did wrote over 12,000 plus I'm happy with what I have so far and I will keep writing the story. I'm optimistic that I'll finish it by January before the school semester starts.
Actually I only needed about 2 and 1/2 hours a day to write. I limited television and internet and still managed to get decent sleep - I also did not get a lot of full day supply jobs so I got lucky with time.
