Why?

Contrary to popular belief, most bats have quite reasonable eyesite, so the saying 'blind as a bat' is rendered somewhat ambigious.

"You're as blind as a bat"
"Why thank you."

They are probably called that because they use echo location.

That's not a reason! I can navigate my house using experience and a sense of location, but nobody says "Your as blind as Badger!"

You've just gotta get your name out there, man. It'll catch on in no time.

It kind of has. There's a reason no one says "As sure footed as a Badger".

Although that might be for different reasons, now that I think of it.
