From Paralysis to Fatigue: A History of Psychosomatic Illness in the Modern Era . A fascinating examination of how certain vague "illnesses" come into vogue and then disappear as they are medically disproved. Likely to provoke heated discussion
I suggest Emotional Equations: Simple Truths for Creating Happiness + Success. This looks a little self-helpy but it also looks like a different take on illustrating certain mental and emotional concepts, which I find intriguing. Also, it is allowable for authors to suggest their own books?
I think I mentioned it elsewhere but I'll suggest it again...Love's Executioner and Other Tales of Psychotherapy or also When Nietzsche Wept. Anything by Dr Yalom is a sure fire win!
Anything is allowed to be suggested. We then take the most recommended books and put them to a vote by the members. So if something looks interesting to you, second it so that it's higher up on the list to be voted on. This is why we use the add book/author tool. It keeps track of how many times a book is mentioned in a thread.
I'm going to second Sybil Exposed: The Extraordinary Story Behind the Famous Multiple Personality Case and The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry. Both have been on my to-read list for so long haha
The Wisdom of Psychopaths: What Saints, Spies, and Serial Killers Can Teach Us About Success
In the Intro thread, Melanie had recommended an excerpt based on this book: http://chronicle.com/article/The-Psyc...
A few titles on my list:
I'll third The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry—it's also on my list.

I second (or third), Love's Executioner and Other Tales of Psychotherapy, The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry, and How the Mind Works.
A student nurse said to me today that my novel, Tollesbury Time Forever, taught her more about the mind of a schizophrenic than any text book she has ever read. Proud moment!
