Shelby (shelcatzoe) Suggest books for December 2012 here!

Please use the add book/author tool when suggesting.

Suggestions open until November 16th

Peter Fenton (peterfenton) From Paralysis to Fatigue: A History of Psychosomatic Illness in the Modern Era . A fascinating examination of how certain vague "illnesses" come into vogue and then disappear as they are medically disproved. Likely to provoke heated discussion

Summer (paradisecity) I suggest Emotional Equations: Simple Truths for Creating Happiness + Success. This looks a little self-helpy but it also looks like a different take on illustrating certain mental and emotional concepts, which I find intriguing.

Also, it is allowable for authors to suggest their own books?

message 7: by Jen (new)

Jen Holmes (frothychocy) | 1 comments I think I mentioned it elsewhere but I'll suggest it again...Love's Executioner and Other Tales of Psychotherapy or also When Nietzsche Wept. Anything by Dr Yalom is a sure fire win!

Shelby (shelcatzoe) Anything is allowed to be suggested. We then take the most recommended books and put them to a vote by the members. So if something looks interesting to you, second it so that it's higher up on the list to be voted on. This is why we use the add book/author tool. It keeps track of how many times a book is mentioned in a thread.

Ce (ce__) | 1 comments A few titles on my list:

You Are Not So Smart Why You Have Too Many Friends on Facebook, Why Your Memory Is Mostly Fiction, and 46 Other Ways You're Deluding Yourself by David McRaney Games People Play by Eric Berne How We Decide by Jonah Lehrer The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout

I'll third The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry—it's also on my list.

Mrs Froggy I would suggest Karen Horney "Our Inner Conflicts: A Constructive Theory of Neurosis"

Our Inner Conflicts A Constructive Theory of Neurosis by Karen Horney

The add book/author option is right of where it says comment: Just click add book/author, select cover. Type the book you want in the search field, then click add.

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) A student nurse said to me today that my novel, Tollesbury Time Forever, taught her more about the mind of a schizophrenic than any text book she has ever read. Proud moment!

This would be good - I've heard the author interviewed and I'd be interested in reading this.
