Island of Silence discussion

I thought this book was excellent and I really enjoyed it.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

I was so frustrated about how bad everything was for Alex, I mean his whole world is gone. Also, at the end when he gets the note from Mr. Today that says five heart attacks was not nessesary, only three; does that mean that Mr. Today is alive? Or could he have predicted what would come of him? Surely if he predicted he would've done something about it, right? The ending was such a cliff hanger, I can;t wait for the next book.
