Training Center
"Wherever you want kiddos. Pick first Lexi." he crossed his arms and stepped back, letting them choose.
Ryder comes into the training room in a daze of sorts. He snapsto reality when the many faces register. He tries his best to look tough but his small frame wasn't very impressive. Ryder knew he wasn't going to get allies by appearance, it was any skills he had that would impress.
Lexi looked down at the new person, befire begining to go over the rope course, hoping she didn;t fall.
Ryder decides to be chill at first; get himself a little more acclimated to so many people. He wasn't a big fan of people. So he went to the fire making station. This would be easy. Sure enough in a matter of minutes he had a blaze going and felt better.
Saul walked around . " Wow". He said looking up.
A few minutes later she'd made it to the end. Smiling slightly to herself she climbed back down to the floor.
Saul saw some training dummy's . "Cool". He said as he punched one lightly.
Ryder looked around, other people were actually doing things. He poked the fire, enjoying the familiar sight And smell.
Saul kept punching the dummy. It sounded harder and harder.
Ryder inconsipciously pocketed matches for later and walked to the knives.
Saul went to the knives he wanted to practice his aim.
((Argh, skim reading is annoying ineffective))Lorris approached Lexi. "Not bad. You are agile and quick. That'd be good. Go practice hand to hand combat. You're going to need it." he told her.
Ryder noticed the other guy near him but didn't say anything to him... Yet. Instead he inspected the knives and daggers, searching for one that fit his fancy. After a few minutes of observation he picked up a pair of curved blades with small handles that fell easily into his hands.
Saul picked up the knives and started to use them on the targets.
Ryder watched for a minute but then started by himself. The knives he ha picked up were balanced differently than most of anything he'd used at home, seeing as the only reason he's needed knives was not for hunting. So he poked an easier target and started getting used to the blades, slashing it up.
Saul threw the knife from a far and hit the target straight in the middle." Nice".
Ryder raised his eyebrows but didn't comment. He finally felt good about his abilities with theses particular daggers and went in for a real target. He took and attack stance close and sprung, nearly a blur around the dummy. His throwing skill weren't amazing, but he could demolish things like this well.
Saul kept throwing the knives faster and faster each sinking into a dummy's vital spot.
Ryder leaned back on his feet, lowering his knives. He watched Saul a little bit more, clearly slightly impressed. His aim was deadly: not one Ryder wanted to cross.
Saul took back the knives and went and grabbed a sword , he tested a katana on the dummy , he sliced and the dummy's head went off by the cut. " This place seems to have everything right". He said to the guy looking at him.
Ryder kept a tight grip on his knives, "Maybe, maybe not." He wondered if the guy was referring to the weapons or society. Either way, Ryder wasn't so sure.
Saul shrugged . " I wonder if they have scythes "? He asked looking around." Can you help me look for a scythe"? He asked him.
Ryder looked around and pointed, "Over there." He walks over to them, letting the knives he was holding clang back to the table. "You know how to use this...?"
" Yeah , I've been meaning to practice with these again for a while". He told him. " You wanna practice with me"? He asked him.
"I'll try..." Ryder says doubtfully. He pushes up his sleeves, trying not to draw attention to it, though. His scars weren't something he was ready to explain. Instead he picked up a scythe and commented. "I feel like Death."
" Same here ". He said taking the double sided scythe. " Let's go". He told him.
Ryder turned to face him. It occurs to him that they weren't supposed to fight each other yet, but who needed rules. He gripped it as he would a staff of sorts and before springing forward checked the sharpness on the back of his hand. Very sharp.
Saul smiled and lunged at him swinging the scythe from below.
Ryder jumped, not letting him catch his feet much. He landed squarely but took a few seconds to recover his balance.
Saul swung again from above to down taking as much range as possible so they don't get close.
Ryder stepped back enough that again, Saul barely nicked him. He then jumped forward, knowing he was significantly smaller and needed to be closer. He went for a diagonal cut.
Saul stepped back and cominig back instantly , he got a small cut in the rib but now he had the chance for a swing. He swung the scythe diagonally towards Ryders neck.
Ryder let out a slur of cusses after having been silent and dropped his scythe to successfully roll away.
Saul dropped his scythe too and went to punch him in the face.
Ryder took his punch, probably dislocating his jaw but managed to lean foreword and tackle him.
Saul got tackled , he tried to break free but couldn't. Saul elbowed Ryders head." Take that". He shouted.
Ryder fell apart just about then. He cracke up, getting off of Saul and laughing, hard.
Saul started to laugh too. " Why did that come out of my mouth". He asked laughing like an idiot.
Ryder laughed more, recovering for breath, "I guess you were a little more into it than you thought."
" Yeah, sometimes I can go overboard". He stated still laughing.

The Gauntlet
The Gauntlet is a daunting obstacle course used in the Training Center. It consists of ascending platforms that rise up to a landing. Tributes must jump from platform to platform to finish in the fastest time possible. To make it even more difficult, trainers swing padded clubs at the tributes. This station is very popular and all the Careers have a go at this first. The station is not very popular to the tributes who are shy, less able, or want to stay inconspicuous.
Ropes Course
The Ropes Course consists of a large rope net that stretches across the ceiling of the gym. Only the very nimble can leap around up there. It is not as popular as some of the fighting techniques.
Have fun.. train well...
