I don't think it's going to happen. DYK, this whole prediction started with the Oracle of Delphi and the Mayans?
"Tell a man that there are 400 billion stars and he'll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint and he has to touch it."
People generally tend to assume things are true.

The end of the world? Pshaw, people will believe anything! In all seriousness though I will not give my opinion because I have don't have one. I mean I do believe that the world is going to end, but I hope that it happens after I'm rich and have kids. Cause for me it is like dying, you don't have any idea when it will happen but it is not a bad thing to be feared because we will be able to meet our maker quite literally, now if you will excuse me I must go buy a safety rock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTel7-...
Take a long look at this list.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_...
*rolls eyes*
Now let me tell you what happened to me at the laundry mat just last week, while I was folding and sorting my clean clothes.
I got this pamphlet...
Yay~ yeah, I kept folding and sorting my clothes while this one lady tried to chat at me about it. The other didn't meet my eyes. Sorry, knocking on my door and leaving things is one thing; but chit-chatting over pain and suffering and the way it's all soon to end (in 2012) is just plain...incident, I mean, I had my clothes right there and everything.
Oh, oh, you know why I really think it's a laugh?
May 21, 2012? You know that whole end of the world thing?
That was my birthday. I didn't see that one coming, literally, as someone said "we're all still here" and it had to be explained to me what they meant.
The year I was born was also supposed to be the end-of-the-world...the year 2000 dooms-day sorta freaked me out a little, but as that was twelve years ago, I got over it.
Sorry, but as this has been going on since the literal year of my birth, I tend to think it's all a joke/scam.
Yet there is this : http://bible.cc/matthew/24-36.htm
So I guess whenever someone thinks it's the end of the world, it won't be. I see this as a backwards way of survival, think it's the end of the world all the time and it will never ever happen.
Except maybe in a billion years.
What I deduce from this is that the end will come when we are least expecting it. Or dead. Hopefully dead.
Interestingly, according to the wikipedia's list of far future events, here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline...
At 600 million years, "Tidal acceleration moves the Moon far enough from Earth that total solar eclipses are no longer possible"
Isn't science fun?

I believe that we are dangerous, but not the most dangerous. The idea of us being the most-mega dangerous and powerful people, in my mind, is somewhat narcissistic. No offense.
Yes, I agree with that, but I am saying that sometimes we think about that and think about how powerful we are to be able to do that.
The Yellowstone supervolcano could erupt at any moment with only ann hour or two of warning. Caldera activity has been up higher than ever in the recent years! (view spoiler)
Yeah, I wasn't saying that we are the most powerful things ever, we are just the biggest threat because we act like we own the world.
I know, but some think we are. I am also saying that, while we are a threat, we are not the biggest threat.
We are one of the largest threats to ourselves, but on a universal scale, we are pretty much nothing. Enjoy your days, mortals!
The 6 graders thought it was the zombie apocalypse, and the students of this one science teacher who showed her classes the movie, The Day After Tomorrow, thought it was the end the world. Other people thought people were bombing or shooting our school because a student from a nearby high school in a different district made a threat against our height school. He posted on Facebook saying he was going to bring guns and bombs since we are all going to die anyway.
The closest thing to the end of the world here was snow falling continuously for three days straight.
