Have you got a burning question for Holly or myself in regards to the BOM ?

Maybe you have an idea on how to run it better( not that i think that it needs it...but you might have that idea that we never even thought of).
Have you got a theme idea? by theme I mean conditions of nominating books around (festive red books for December, fairy , vampire, shapeshifters- those are examples of ones we have done).

What do you think of how the discussion topics are set up? what would you change? how would you do it?

Please note this is for the BOM only. if you would like to suggest other types of group reads please put that in the general group folder.

To give your feedback on the BOM simply leave a comment . please be nice.

Walter Spence (walterspence) I have no comments regarding the BOM, but since the group is featuring interviews with authors, what about an additional (or alternate) read each month taken from the oeuvre of that month's interviewed author?

(Nope, no self interest involved here, nothing to see, keep it moving, folks...)

Thank you Walter. unfortunately in the past we have not had much success with Author reads( back then it was labelled the RAGR. Random Author Group Read.
we scrapped it after only a few months as it just wasn't getting the interest.
however we will consider maybe in a different format, maybe a trial. and we can see how it goes.
it may not generate much interest on goodreads, but on the Facebook group we might get some interest.

Hey Adele. Well, I think I've hit my quota for YA and I might make it a rule as they just don't compel me. Unless I have a big push from some recommends and friends, I think I will skip them. I try to get to all the BOM and the YA seem to be more popular so I cannot see excluding them but I might be on the side and comment rather than read. I looked through and it is 1/3. We don't have enough participation to do separate BOM.

Yeah you are right. This month was a bad YA to begin with, so i really dont blame you!
Maybe we should just have them all NON YA books. And if someone wants to reas a YA they can do it as a Buddy read!

Well that won't work as a lot of our members are very YA oriented. I know Norma likes them but there is even a new member that asked for recommends named Janna. It is a popular genre for certain and there are some very good ones out there. It is just not what pulls me to read and actually can put me in a funk. Contemporary romance can do this also as some of the tropes are just not to my liking. Still I push to read out of my comfort zone but I've had enough YA for a while. I've only read 3 in the last 2 months but that is enough for me. :-)

Hey, I agree. I don't mind young adult, but it is hard to differentiate between YA and non-YA unless there is sex of some sort in the book.

I agree that YA should not be an option, unless we agree on a set month, or time frame.

Another issue is participation. We have over 2,000 members and only 5 or 6 nominations...

This month so far, I'm the only one that has read the BOM. It was YA and I didn't nominate it. I did have it on my TBR so not like I hadn't thought about it. Still, I would be happier if someone joined in to comment about what they may have liked, or maybe like me disliked.
