Greg Sabo | 3 comments Blackhawk down is a very descriptive account of an American gunfight in the middle of Somalia. A routine mission became a long day and night battle with thousands of heavily armed Somali soldiers. This book does an excellent job describing the mission and paints a perfect picture in your head during every scene. I was never found lost or confused on what was happening, everything was well described and kept me interested every step of the way. The story within the main topic of this book is really emotional which makes this book that more significant. "He knew their faces so well they were like brothers" said Matt Eversmann. This quote really sums up the bond all the soldiers had before this mission took the lives of many. This emotional quote also helps describe the importance of saving their falling soldiers and risking their lives to do it. This moral of the story is a reason why it was giving 4 stars. Also the ability to keep a picture painted in my head for every scene of action during the book is also the reason it deserves a 4 star rating. This story takes place during a war in Somalia that many Americans lost their lives to and many believe that we had no reason to be there. This topic is very exigent which is what we are talking about in class with various exigent topics. I would definatly reccomend this to a person who loves war movies or war books because this is one of the best. Their will always be a picture in your head while reading it and you never know when the story is going to climax and thats what makes it much more exciting.
