♥ Rebecca ♥ | 1653 comments I know a lot of ppl have read Poison Study but havent read the rest of the series because it doesnt have the greatest reputation. But, for those who have read the series, have you noticed there are now 3 more books up on GR?

#4 to be out in 2014. I dont know how I feel about this. The first book was by far the best. The set up for it was great. The second was ok but no where near the first. Different setting, different characters, different villain, different mood. The third was just horrendous. But maybe Maria V. Snyder realizes her mistake and wants to atone for it by going back to what was good about book #1. I hope so. It needs to focus on Yelena and Valek again. Fighting a villain in more close quarters. No more travelling across the grasslands, please.

Kasey | 284 comments I've read the Poison Study series and I know some people have been critical of it but I really enjoyed all the books. I know alot of people wanted Yelena and Valek to be together but part of what I enjoyed was the fact that they didn't have to be together all the time. The books talk about how much Yelena misses him so the reader isn't left feeling like she's forgotten him.
I will be honest part of what I like is the strength of the female characters. It's common in newer books that the female protagonist is weak and dependent on the male love interest. That or the female and male go in a cycle of rescuing each other til they eventually defeat the bad guy. What makes Yelena so unique is that she can defeat the bad guy all on her own and Valek trusts her to do what she needs to. Of course I would have liked a few more scenes with the two of them but I was so thrilled with how independent she was that I couldn't help but love it anyway.
I will say that the Glass series is not as good as Poison Study but her Healer series is turning out to perhaps be better than even the Poison Study series.

The first one is great. Hope you enjoy.

Emma | 98 comments I enjoyed all the study series, I also really liked the glass series which is the same setting as the study series but a different main character. i do agree the 2nd two in each series are not as good as the 1st, but I also think that maybe because my expectations for them are too high. I will definately read anything she writes.

Anonymous | 1 comments I literally freaked out when i saw that the next book was coming out in 2014! I love this series, but i have to agree that the second 2 books are nowhere near as good as the first.

It was the concept of of choosing between the noose and being a poison taster that grabbed me, and the first few lines really drew me in. Neither the 2nd or 3rd was the same. They don't seem as connected to the first book as books in a series should be.

I think that if the last books were more connected to the first, and if the book immediately drew you in, they might be as good as the first. Also, the third book seemed really slow! traveling across the plains, fight some people, repeat.... (although i have to admit, i loved the ending, a bit of a twist, which i think maria is good at doing) So i hope Maria starts this next one off with a bang and focuses in on the topic more. I hope there are less characters, and only 1 main problem (the last book had too much going on)

Louise-ellen Swift Denahm (Lu-Ellen) | 3 comments I am currently read in this series ... loves the first book, the second was good ... I'm on the third now an it's not as good. its a Shame a I also read her whale series which I couldn't put down and have reread many times. unlike the poison study series which I'm sure I will only read this once

Well i agree that the other books are no where near as good but maria v snyder quickly became my fav writer overtaking p.c.cast. however the glass series has its merits especially spy glass [major valek fan] and i found i liked them all but poison study is soooooooo the best and the healer series is awesome too
