Would Sirius Black have died if he had treated Kreacher with kindness? I recall from the books that Dumbledore tells Harry that Kreacher had visited Bellatrix and Narcissa, giving them vital information about the Order. Do you think Sirius' death could have been prevented? Did he bring it upon himself?

Alyssa | 184 comments I feel bad for saying this but I think Sirius's death is Harry's fault. I don't think Kreacher was that much of an impact. But Harry should have told any adult. Seriously that was dumb to just run off on your own.

Charleen | 57 comments Even if Sirius did treat Kreacher with kindness, he might've still died because he was a dishonor to the family by being a gryffindor. Personally, I think Kreacher would have betrayed Sirius anyways-after all, he was only nice to Harry, Ron and Hermione because they gave him the locket.

yah um hi im shimmi soo (bethanybooks) | 30 comments I cried and cried when Sirius died..very sad part of the book and movie.

I think Sirius' death was definitly preventable, but if you think about it, isn't every death preventable in some way? Death is part of life, he probably would have died eventually anyways, I mean, not many people in the Order lived.

Mpiggy Definitely preventable. If he had just moved a tiny bit to the side when Bellatrix fired, by losing his balance, seeing it come and dodging, falling, or stepping back to look around, then he wouldn't have died! Although, Bellatrix could just go after him again and he'd die anyway...

Samantha (sammgasmic) | 41 comments I think Sirius' death was completely and totally preventable, but it has nothing to do with Kreacher and more to do with Dumbledore. Let me explain:

If Dumbledore hadn't taken it upon himself to relocate Harry after his parents' deaths to the Dursley's and instead gave Harry to the man who was named Harry's godfather and was trusted to take care of Harry IN THE EVENT IF LILY AND JAMES' DEATH then Sirius would have been more concerned with caring for the baby if his best friend than trying to get revenge. So therefore he never would have gone to Azkaban, he wouldn't have been on more or less house arrest when Harry's 5th year came around, and Harry and Sirius probably would be living somewhere other than Sirius' parents house and Kreacher may have been released or stayed with the Black family house.

That's a really good point. I never considered that it could be Dumbledore's fault. Why didn't he send Harry to live with Sirius?

Samantha (sammgasmic) | 41 comments I think it was because Dumbledore was under the impression that Sirius was still the Pottes' secret keeper and he was the reason that Harry's parents were dead. But if Dumbledore had found Sirius after Harry's parents were killed and before Sirius tried to kill Peter then Dumbledore would've known that Sirius was never the Potters' secret keeper in the first place and then Harry would've been able to live with Sirius. Where both of them would've had much better lives.

It's amazing to think of how the differently the series would've turned out if Harry had gone to live with Sirius. It makes me wonder if he would've had a bit of an overinflated ego like his dad, though, because he would've grown up in the Wizarding World knowing that he was famous. I think that would've gotten to anybody's head.

Samantha (sammgasmic) | 41 comments When I first started thinking about this scenario I thought about that too. But I feel like because he was famous for losing his parents to Voldemort he probably wouldn't have been pompous or stuck up, especially because he would've grown up knowing how amazing his parents were because of Sirius. I just think he would've been better prepared for the recognition. But whether or not he would still become friends with Ron and Hermione is debatable, on one hand Harry wouldn't have had to ask Mrs. Weasley how to get onto the platform so he wouldn't have met Ron in the same way, but on the other hand Molly and Sirius are like 2nd cousin's by marriage and they were also in the order together the first time Voldemort came to power so Harry and Ron may have met before Hogwarts...

S Jakes | 281 comments About the point of Harry, Ron and Hermione becoming friends, I would like to mention that they would have all been in Gryffindor so whether or not they would become friends is roughly the same possibility in either situation
