Someone mentioned under the "Hopeless" thread that they could loan certain books through Kindle or Nook. I didn't know this. Would anyone be able to loan me "Painted Girl" when they are done with it? (if it can be loaned). I'm willing to loan any of the other books to someone.

I'm enjoying fast pace of this group and understand that influences why certain books are selected. While I may SEEM heartless, I can be pretty sentimental. Totally hated "Hopeless" and couldn't finish it. On the other hand, I lovedlovedloved "Fault in our Stars" and cried throughout the entire book. It is one of my favs to give as a gift. This brings us to THE WORST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ in my entire life. "Safe Haven". Does the word manipulated ring any bells? I feel like such a sucker. Bad author--no donut. xxoocf
I would be happy to lend anything, but unfortunately on the nook the painted girls isn't lendable. Apparently only certain books are.

Thanks for answering that question. I keep checking back at the library -- I have a request in to reserve it for me but still have not heard. Local libraries so far do not have it in.
so how IS everyone reading all of these books? Are you guys buying them? downloading them? The last 2 have been completely checked out at the library with huge long lines for holds...curious what others are doing???
That's the problem with reading new releases.....they are hard to get from the library. I've been on the list forThe Fault in Our Stars for nearly 2 months and don't have it yet!
You all are so fortunate there are functional libraries in your community. Years of budget cuts have ruined our library system. Typically and truthfully the only way they get new releases is if people like me buy them first and then donate them. I haven't checked out abook in years. Our budget is super tight so I use on line coupons from B&N, Walmart/Costco book purchases and belong to Amazon Prime. I downloaded "Hopeless" for free thanks to Prime. xxoocf

I've decided I'm never going to be completely caught up with the list so I'm reading at my leisure. I'm a poor starving freelancer and can't afford to get all those books new!

I am lucky to work in Midtown Manhattan near the branch at 40th and 5th. They tend to get a lot of new books, with multiple copies if it's popular. Still, they don't have Painted Girls yet. I'll pop over on Monday to check again. I semi-kid about using B&N as a library -- when I do go and have a cup of coffee in the cafe, I tend to have a stack of books about whatever I need to research that week. It is hard for me to actually read novels there.
Our libraries in Minneapolis are great! They have a program called "Bestseller Express" where you can check out a new release for 10 days and $4. I don't like paying for it all the time, but it's nice to only pay $4 for the Private Berlin book since I typically wouldn't buy it. A few used bookstores around here do something similar, so that's another great place to check. OR, this is what my grandma does: She will usually run out and buy the latest bestseller, quickly read it and then donate it to a charity thrift store. So that's another place to check for books! I've gotten new releases within a month or so for $1-3 depending on paperback or hardcover.
