eight months have gone by so fast and I still haven't received any comments on new spooky books. hmmm the cobwebs and dust that have formed around me while I wait aren't so bad.
Well, I'm Robert and I just joined the group. Only three members and not a post in a year. It's as cold as a tomb and dead as a corpse. Maybe we can live'en things up with a few FREE scary short stories from my collection.STAY TUNED IF YOU DARE!!!
Welcome Robert to the group! I just don't seem to find anyone that likes a good scary book. Hell House was good but can't seem to think of one that I have read that stands out lately. I hope you can bring some new interesting stories and bring this group out of the grave booohahaha (evil laugh)
Need to check The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro. On tv now and I find quite scary. Read the series last year.
Thomas, I love Johnathan Maberry for zombie books. I've been watching The Strain, it's really good.
Blackout by Tim Curran was his best for sometime in my opinion, I think it has been released my review is on Goodreads, amazon.com and Shelfari
Sunblind by Michael McBride has some very scary parts, I don't think it's available yet, may have to pre-order it, but worth it
The Delicate Dependency: A Novel of the Vampire Life by Michael Talbot. Very different vampire story set in Victorian Europe. My review can be found on Goodreads, Amazon.com and Shelfari
I liked Underwood & Flinch by Mike Bennett (vampire novel): https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7... I listened to it on podiobooks. He does a great job reading it.

I couldn't find any of these books in Barnes & Noble. I usually read from my ibooks app

Darn, Aileen, I'm sorry. I suppose these books are just for kindle?? Seems weird to me.
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/delic...I see The Delicate Dependency on Barnes and Noble at the above address
You know, Aileen, Blackout and Sunblind are both published by Dark Fuse. I will find out if those will ever be available on B&N. I just finished Sunblind and it is written so well and such a good story, sad and I found it extremely scary. If it weren't for that man I sleep with and those 2 dogs and the cat...darn, I probably wouldn't have slept last night. I could see certain scenes in my mind's eye...yikes! Hope you get to read it.
Here's an interesting ghost story for you...
Her Fearful Symmetry

Indeed. Made me want to visit all the more. :)

Me too. I visit the ones nearby fairly frequently. There's an old Catholic one that's my favorite. There's a town about an hour away called Colma (CA) that's pretty much all cemeteries. I can't remember their motto offhand but it's something along the lines of how the dead far outnumber the living there. I'd like to get over there. The first one I visited was a small abandoned one in Half Moon Bay.
Breed
Alex and Leslie Twisden told each other they would do anything to have children. The price didn’t matter. But the experimental procedure they found had costs they couldn’t foresee.
Adam and Alice Twisden’s lives seem perfectly normal. Except that, every night, without fail, their parents lock them into their rooms.
And the twins know that the sounds they can hear are not just their imagination. They’re real. And they’re getting louder...
From a new name in horror, Breed is a stunning thriller in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby, brilliantly written, daring, and unforgettable.
Hmm... creepy, indeed.

I'm always looking for a book that will really creep me out, and I'm always looking. There was a book by Erica Spindler though I can't remember what it was called, that scared the crap out of me. (it involved dolls, I have a phobia of them) but I like scaring myself like that (yeah I'm a little weird) so if anyone can help me, that would be great
Annabelle, the movie, looks creepy. It's about the possessed doll that was introduced in the movie The Conjuring.
This isn't a new one but I listened to The Great God Pan by Arthur Machen on audio (librivox so it's free and the reader is pretty good). It wasn't at all what I thought it would be about--I thought it would be some nature-related thing from the title but it isn't. I like the understated horror.I just started The White Forest by Robert McOmber but I bought it so long ago I don't remember now if it's horror or fantasy ;-). Had to look at the cover. It says it's "spooky" so I'm going with that it's horror :-).
Hey guys! I just joined the group, but I figured I had to share the book I reading, The Troop by Nick Cutter. I'm no stranger to horror, but this book is CRAZY! Not for the squeamish, but awesome.
The Troop by Nick Cutter
OOOOH! Interesting. This looks like some psycho crossing of 28 Days Later and The Lord of the Flies.
It's on the to read list. Thanks Katie! Oh, and welcome to out little madhouse. :)

Loved Dead of Night by Jonathan Maberry. I couldn't put it down. I've never been a fan of zombies but this book was great
I'm new here ... and haven't read all the posts. But my vote would be for Nameless by Joe Conlan. I'm a voracious reader, and that's the best one I've read in a very long time.
Some books that I enjoyed this year, by new authors were:
Animosity by James Newman.
Consumed: Volume 1 by Kyle M. Scott
Devil's Day by Kyle M. Scott
Plebs by Jim Goforth
And one that hasn't been released just yet, but I read and reviewed an ARC of it is: All or Nothing by Stuart Keane.

The Troop has now moved up my to read list I have heard too many good things. I read the Hillary trilogy about a year ago and it was intense, no bump in the night stuff just deeply rooted human nature horror. It is not for the weak stomached folks though. It is along the lines of Edward Lee and comes with a warning label when purchasing. Anyways the author of the series is Angel Gelique.
Yes, Angel did! I added her to my fab author list. Not gonna ruin it for anyone. But did you see that ending coming? Cause I did not!
No, I didn't. But I have to admit I'm in the acknowledgment on her 3rd book. I think she's a really good author, and a wonderful person. I kept at her to finish the series, and let her know about any errors I found.
Hello there, Heres two that I thought were creepy: Summer House with Swimming Pool, by Herman Koch, and a James Patterson & David Ellis's: Invisible.(that I'm reading now.)
Stephen King has two new books coming out. A short in the end of Sept. and then another in the middle of Oct.
