Many people do not know that every day, 22 veterans, active duty or those who once served our country will take their own life.
It does not have to be this way. There are many reasons that people take their own lives. Most of the time it boils down to one thing:
They are in pain, emotional and sometimes physical, and they just want the pain to stop and they have no idea how to make it stop.
People can help. Sometimes just being the one who listens to them without judging is enough to help people carry on.
There is another way to help.
STOP22.org
Stop 22 is an organization in Southern Maryland that wants to help veterans. On June 12, they are launching an all day series of events to help call attention to the issues faced by those who serve, or have served in the military.
In addition to raising awareness, STOP 22 is also raising money to help organizations like K9s for Warriors. K9s for Warriors is a florida based organization dedicated to finding suitable dogs, training them to be service dogs for veterans with disabilities both physical and mental.
Please consider this organization this Memorial Day and if you want to help please go to the website. You will be able to donate money on line or download the form and donate by mail.
The toll is 8,000 Heroes per year.
