This is a short story that I really enjoyed connecting with. It is a story with plenty of situational irony and the cons of strict tradition. This particular text is short enough for students to stay focused on and comprehend, at minimum, the details of the story. Jackson made this story a little dark, but I am certain most people parents would give their consent.

This story is a surprising one. The initial setting offers a sunny day and the feeling of spring and new joys. That thread continues with a buildup of foreshadowing and tension. No spoilers here but hold onto your seat...
