What better way to kick off summer than a reading challenge!

This challenge is intended to help members read some of their books that are piling up to the sky during the 13 weeks of summer. Members are invited to clear the dust and cobwebs off any 13 books on their TBR shelf. If you’re not hoarding books but want to participate that would be fine too! Just pick a book a week to read over the summer with us.

The challenge will start today and end on Monday August 31st. If you would like to participate create a thread with your name and Lucky Thirteen Summer Challenge.

List the book you read in addition to any details you can think of including; how long you have had the book, where you got it, why you didn't read it before, or anything else you would like to add!

Have fun and get some of those old books read!

Oh wow!! this is a great idea. I will join, but will not promise to finish since there are other book club comments. But I could get some TBR books read.

No worries Hillary, we just picked 13 as a goal. I'm sure people will read less and more :)

I am totally in. Whenever the books start to get stacked on top of the row, that's when something must be done.

What a wonderful challenge!! I'm reading like a demon but all kindle or library books. The hundreds of books on shelves are not getting read at all.

What a great idea! Since my TBR piles are tipping over, I'm definitely in!

Yeah, me too. I'll join in but not sure I'll hit 13. Looks like I might be moving this summer so a lot of books will be in boxes . . . and time for reading may be short. But it will be fun to see how far I might get.

That's where I'm at, Kay! All of my physical books are packed because we're moving.

I will love to try!!! I love summer reading but this summer I will be working 3 jobs so it will be a challenge!

Okay, I'm in. I don't have a physical TBR so these will all be library books, but it'll still be a challenge for me to read a book a week... and I'm already behind!

I totally failed with this challenge! I'm still working on the 3 books that I initally pulled. I wish I could get my reading groove back!

It's ok Andrea, I failed this challenge as well. I read a lot more than 13 books, but none of them came off of my bookshelves.

I to failed. I only read 4 from shelf but several others otherwise However these 4 were big books. 2 Outlanders & 2 Harry Potter. Now need to finish rest of the series

hmmm maybe we could do another one of these challenges.

Yes let's do it again!!! Maybe with goal of 8-10 books. I cannot remember, was the 13 summer reading for months of June and July only? If longer , the 3rd Outlander book was read.

Oops just found 1st post. I'm determined to get 13 books next summer (well at least more than 5). If one counts Outlander books as 2, I completed 8
