What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

In elementary school circa 1990 I checked out a book from the school library. It was about a boy who always wore a raincoat and would fill the pockets of the raincoat with paperclips and other useful things. The second book in the series was about the boy finding a money tree. I think his parents didn't believe him about there being a money tree. The books were short and simply illustrated and I remember there being two. I would love to find this book!

A long shot perhaps - The Treehorn Trilogy: The Shrinking of Treehorn, Treehorn's Treasure, and Treehorn's Wish by Florence Parry Heide and illustrated by Edward Gorey.

In Treehorn's Treasure, "the tree leaves on the backyard turn into dollar bills".
