This was a very interesting read! The science based chapters were just okay, but necessary. I loved hearing about her life and her family.

I agree. I enjoyed this book when I read it. However, I enjoyed the scientific part of it, although it may have been a little "dry" at times. Of course, the setting in Baltimore was of interest, too! :)
Good read, although it is kind of sad. I guess bittersweet is probably the best word. I think that Johns Hopkins stole the cells from Henrietta and then cheated the family out of any monetary gain. Sure they used the cells to save lives and the patients paid for the services. Johns Hopkins has not given this family 1 copper penny as of yet. Of course the immediate family was poor, uneducated and black.
