Charlotte, were there lots of pictures? Were they realistic, cartoony, photographs, etc.?
Was the tone funny or serious?
A few long shots - I Feel Sick! by Mick Manning?
I Feel...Sick by DJ Corchin?

This sounds similar to The Sick of Being Sick Book, which I remember as being a humourous take on the subject (and written for kids) while still giving advice on how to feel better.
If older, it could also be Minnie the Mump and Other Stories (Published 1970). I'm not finding a Goodreads entry, but here is Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Minnie-The-Mump...
The Sick of Being Sick book was the first thing that came to my mind, too. I remember it helping me through a bout of the flu when I was a kid. Also, it was written by RL Stine before he turned scary, which is kind of cool.

Random details I remember:
There was a recipes section in the back for different drinks and comfort foods. There were a few drink recipes requiring raw eggs. There was also a few pages dedicated to going to the doctor's office. It gave advice on bringing a backpack filled with games and snacks. There was another page that talked about staying in bed and keeping a thermos filled with soup or something.
