Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments I placed my expectations really low. Hehehe. Reading for the fun of it all.

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments I'm starting reading! I really need a good hot romance book right now :)

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments Oops! I forgot. Just finished a book so I am good to start this too. :)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments I'm about 20% done.

So far I really don't know what to think of it. (view spoiler)

Antonija (azragni) I also forgot :/
I'll go get the book and start :)

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments Skandia wrote: "I'm about 20% done.

I wasn't expecting a storyline. :) But yes, (view spoiler)

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments Quite enjoying the story so far. :D

Antonija (azragni) I don't why I like it. I just do and that is kind of creeping me out. I creep myself out. Great hah
I'm rereading it now and I have to admit, I liked it more the first time around.

I just can't get over the fact that the first sex scene was right away without building characters but the rest of the book is somehow flowing, so far(page 61). Maybe because it's really easy to read?
I absolutely agree with you guys about the lingerie. What is up with that?! Does he hang them up somewhere or what?

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments So far they're all in the drawer at work but I'm still at 31%.

It's so creepy!

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments I'm getting frustrated.
"We must stop. Don't stop. No, we really need to stop. I agree, don't stop. "
For crying out loud, people, make up your mind! Aaargh!

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments LOL.

It's pretty bad, imo.

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments Never seen a guy pay such avid attention to a woman's clothing before! every single day!

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments I need some romance. So far it has been an endless f@ckfest.

I must say, I have some issues with the quality of writing. It's kind of poor.

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments After this book, we can wander off and read a real romance. Hahaha. I am about 70% done and there isn't any romance in sight so far. A little bit of tenderness now though.

I agree with you on the writing quality.

Still, it was exactly what I was expecting. *grin* Pure erotica and no sense. So I am not too disturbed by it.

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments I can see why many people enjoy it though.

I have read books that had terrible dialogue and/or perplexing writing quality....but somehow made up for it in entertainment value.

This is quite entertaining. The hero is pretty sexy with all his grunty masculinity.

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments It was a Twilight fanfiction. That explains a lot. What with the parents names like Esme and Carlisle and even brother Emmett with a wife Rosalie. Hahaha ...really?

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments I'm finished. Finally.
2 stars.
Big disappointment and I must confess that I skipped a lot of sex scenes towards the end of the book. It really got boring and tedious and the writing was awful. Not anywhere near the quality erotica I was expecting considering the high ratings this book has received.

Antonija (azragni) Done. What was I thinking before?? O.o

I don't know if there was 10 pages without a sex scene. That is not normal.
Then in the end they fall in love. How is that possible? They never talk to each other, they just fight. Actually...they argue like they're 14. Asshole, bastard(on and on)....what a wide vocabulary...

I completely agree. Some sentences had no sense. They weren't flowing from one to another. I felt like they were just randomly thrown in there for the purpose of getting more pages.

Yeah and also the constant repeating of same scenes in different POV-s was very weird. It didn't work for me at all.

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments *grin* Yeah, it's a two-star read for me as well.

I stopped questioning why bad books get such high ratings after 50 Shades. I just sigh and accept that sometimes writing quality isn't always what appeals to people.

I'm sorry you had to suffer through it. :( I didn't realise you weren't aware of its background.

There's something about fanfic books that are linked to Twilight that bedazzle many readers. It's perplexing to me. I think it's voodoo. Or some kind of spell.

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments Still, I enjoyed it up until around the hotel room point when the author tried to force in some "feelings" suddenly.

Samantha | 1381 comments I haven't had the chance to read it yet but I will this weekend.

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments @ Pamela Su: at least we got it off of TBR shelf, so it's good. Can't love them all.

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments Hahaha. Yes. :D It's finally off my list!

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments LOL. I don't know that anyone will trust my reading suggestions again after this book. :D :D

I don't normally like to read new adult type books but I had such great experiences with Sarina Bowen books.

I'm thinking of trying Tangled. Honestly, I'm a bit scared to try this because of the gushing reviews. :/

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments P.s. does anyone know how to find a list of popular contemporary romance AND filter out new adult romances??? :(

Or has contemporary romance gone a new route in the last few years. I feel so out of touch.

message 36: by Skandia (last edited Jul 20, 2015 07:33PM) (new) - rated it 2 stars

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments Pamela Sue, Tangled was great. Nothing like this awful book and definitely not NA. I can recommend it and also Wallbanger series was good contemporary romance as it should be.
If you looking for slightly less sexy but good entertaining read then Kristan Higgins is my current contemporary go-to author.

What comes to YA, I have love-hate relationship with new adult romance books too. Most of them are too angsty and too much drama but there are some good ones too - books by Amy Harmon and Jessica Park, I love The Reed Brothers series by Tammy Falkner and Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl is one of my very favorite books read this year

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 194 comments Thanks, Skandia! I will have a look at those books.
