So I read this a few days ago and I liked it and it was new to have a girl be so athletic and in a book. I did feel like they over played her need to be one of the boys. I play sports and have my entire life but I don't bro-fist every time someone walks out of a room.
May be you missed the point that her dad never appreciated her games where as her brother was always recipients of his father's praises. Even though Jordan was a very good player .He made her feel that because she is a girl she should quit ... I think if we look from her POV ... Her actions were justified .
I loved this book! Jordan's character is amazing and the author captured perfectly the behavior of men towards women on the field!
@ harshini , yeah absolutely.... Its quite a shame that even now men does not recognize the potential of women :P
I know right! When we do better than them in studies, they call it partiality from teachers. Sometimes I wonder what it will take for men to realize that we are just as good as them(sometimes better).
I wasn't a fan of this book. I thought I'd love it since everyone else seems to but it fell flat for me. Not sure what exactly the issue was- perhaps just all the american football. Being english american football doesn't mean much to me. Also I found the whole thing with jordan thinking just because you're sporty you can't be girly. I know she felt she has to impress her dad but I found that a really unrealistic concept. Plus the boys didn't do it for me. I like Henry but him and jordan didn't get me rooting for them like other books. Unsure whether to try any of the authors other books or not.
Sorry you didn't enjoy it Tesni. Yes, Jordan was not my favorite either. But I loved how the author told the story :)
I liked it. I agree that Jordan acted too much like the boys sometimes, but I think it felt natural to her, given her circumstances. I wish there had been more sparks between Jordan and Henry, though.
I felt Jordan was tomboyish ... I liked her character, but I agree I too wanted some more spark between Jordan and henry. :D
I wish I had gotten more attached to the characters. They seemed to fall short in my book. I just wanted more like it was set up to be such a great story but didn't pull through. I look forward to the next one in the series because I feel like it could bring that.
Reading all your sentiments about this book make me want to take a pass. Ill wait for something more interesting. As far as the topic of women being just as good as men, I don't agree with some of you. Women can't be compared to men. Sure some buff strong woman might be able to take a wimpy guy out but in general men are physically stronger than women. We may be smarter but they are definitely stronger. There's absolutely no way a girl can be better than a boy at football. I find illogical thinking like that not very interesting to read.
I feel like if you work the right muscle groups and change your form to what parts of a female that are stronger a girl could be better than a boy at anything. Its all about how you use what you've got.
Well a quarterback can be easily played by both a girl or a boy as long as defense is good. So I thought it was a bit realistic if you asked me. Since I am a tomboy the book got Jordan's character very well
Ok, I just started and I'm fighting to keep reading. I am at very beginning when Ty enters picture. I don't know, maybe the football lingo is killing it for me, but please tell me it gets better :(
Well I just finished. It did get better. I agree it was an easy read. I enjoyed it. Very predictable, no surprises!
Just finished! I did enjoy it. To me, the way Jordan acted was realistic. To grow up with a NFL player as a father, I can see why Jordan would be attracted to it. Like it was mentioned in the book, she was more attracted to playing football than cheerleading. She's a tomboy, the way she interacted with the guys was realistic. I've met tomboys and that is how they interact with guys. I didn't understand the football terms either, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the story =)
I'm a little late to this one, but I just finished reading Catching Jordan and I LOVE it! I thought the relationships were well done in this story. The characters and dialogue were great. I'm a huge football fan and I really enjoyed the challenges of a girl in the sport. I thought Jodan's character was believable. I enjoyed each of her friendships and the development of her relationship with her father over football. Really, I was sad it was over and we didn't get more of Jordan and Sam's relationship as it evolves.
