Certainly.
I think these are some of their most "accessible" songs, so they should be a good place to start off:
"There Is A Light That Never Goes Out"
"Well I Wonder"
"Still Ill"
"Asleep"
"Reel Around the Fountain"

I enjoy listening to The Smiths, also here is some random pointless trivia, Johnny Marr's real name is John Maher, the same name as my dad...as well as the drummer of Buzzcocks...anyway..I adore 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' :)
I had on repeat 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Know' when I got a shitty job after Uni, heh
Like you said perfectly, Jesse, 'One of the few bands that has a song to match every emotion you might ever feel'
'How Soon Is Now' is another pretty famous one, what with being covered alot, some people might not even realise it was originally by The Smiths.

I knew that Marr's real last name was Maher, but I never knew that John Maher was the name of the Buzzcocks' drummer. For a person who owns all their albums, that makes me look pretty damn bad hahah.
Uni? Do you live in Europe?
'How Soon Is Now' was actually the first song by The Smiths I ever heard, on the US version of 'Meat is Murder.' It's another great place to start.

Haha, no worries, I would be surprised if people knew all the names, of all the members of all the bands they listened to.Yeah, I live in England UK. I forget the US call Uni, College mostly although you do have Universities, does anyone call them Unis?

No, we're too bland and boring. We call everything 'college,' even if it's a university.

saw the smiths years ago in Portsmouth.they were tremendous.Morrissey walked off near the end of the gig,as someone in the crowd spat on his silver shirt...still play hatful of hollow now and then
I’m not a huge Smiths fan but I do love to listen to their songs, only in small doses. Perhaps it’s Morrissey timbre, al thought i do recognize he’s got a unique voice, very personal and complex. Anyways, I think one of the first songs I ever listened of them was Ask... such a great song, brings back memories!

One of the few bands that has a song to match every emotion you might every feel, The Smiths have been one of my favourite bands since I first heard them. I can still remember where I was when I heard my first Smiths song (sixteen years old, at a party), and the first time I heard them in a bar (in Manhattan, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out--I sang along at the top of my lungs and these two women bought me drinks all night afterwards).
I may not be one of the super-fans who can write a biography of Moz off hand, but I'm still a pretty big fan.
