Greglin had only ever been in the diner, so he was looking forward to a new world of people and treasures as he walked through the doors.....into what appeared to be a building site. Ladders, tools, ropes and pulleys filled the, clearly under construction, cafeteria.
"Oh....." said the halfling .
"Oh....." said the halfling .
Zali looked around with a raised brow. "Well, this isn't what I was entirely expecting," she said, slightly amused.
"We could still explore...." said Greglin shimmying up a rope onto some high scaffolding.
From above they could see the mess that was the whole room....they could even see outside as even the roof was incomplete. "Let's aim stones at the windows in the dorms and see who can hit the most", suggested Greglin.
"And if there are any open windows, we can try to hit whoever is in there," Zali suggested with a grin.
"Cool!" chuckled Greglin as he searched for suitable stones...
Zali smiled and looked along the ground for any rocks. She picked some up and collected them in her pocket.
Greglin froze. He scanned the darkness below them in the half built cafeteria, "Zali! Did you hear anything?"
"I thought somebody had followed us...", shrugged Greglin, then tossed a smooth round red pebble down into the darkness.
"Well if you think you heard someone down there, you don't throw a rock down!" Zali hissed. She watched the pebble fall until it was enveloped in the darkness.
"I ddon't suppose yoy've got night vision eyes or anything do you?" asked Greglin.
"I think i must have imagined it" said Greglin turning to face the dorms once more, then hurling a pebble towards them.
"Show off", smiled the halfling.
Rivern entered the cafeteria. He wasn't really interested in the food (after all, he had 2.5 pints of halfling's blood), but he knew that humans around his age liked to meet in the cafeteria anyway for casual conversations.
Greglin hurled a stone as far as he could and winced when he heard the distant tinkle of breaking glass. "I hope it was that suckers room!", he grinned.
Zali giggled and nodded. "That'd be nice," she agreed. She crouched down and tried finding the window he had shattered.
Rivern heard a faint tinkling of glass. He didn't much care which room was broken into, but he wandered over to look anyway.
Zali leaned back on her heels after not finding the broken window. She pulled another rock out of her pocket and tossed it between her hands.
Rivern looked up. It looked like one of the windows in the Dorm. A scent wafted down from the broken glass, and he caught a wiff of halfling blood. Rivern smiled. "Looks like someone else doesn't like that little shorty!"
Zali perked her head up as she thought she heard something. She listened closely, but didn't hear anything else for the moment. She stood up on the scaffolding and threw the rock she still had in her hand at the dorm windows.
Rivern saw another rock sail across the open air to the dorm rooms again. It seemed to originate from the roof, so he went up to investigate.
Zali put her hand into her pocket again to find that she was already out of rocks. "Greglin, do you have anymore stones?" she asked, glancing over at him.
"Nah"...said the Halfling, "I'll go and get some". he jumped down off the roof and then instantly froze again...."Zali! I really do think their is someone down there...."
Rivern was on his way up, when he suddenly felt the urge to look up. He saw some heads peering down at him. He couldn't tell who, since the glare from the sun was blinding his very sensitive eyes.Suddenly, Rivern heard a slight sizzling and the smell of burnt skin. He looked at his bare arm in his T-shirt. "Shi'ites!" He yelped, patting out the miniature flame. He'd forgotten to put on SPF 50 that morning!
Greglin and Zali landed either side of the vampire...."You Again?", Greglin spat.
Rivern glared at them. "Excuse me for walking around! Haven't you heard the song 'It's a Small World After All'?!"
"That's Heightist !", glared the halfling, pulling himself up to his full 3 feet.
Rivern leaned down, towering over Greglin. "Are you sure you're a halfling? You're more like a troublesome gremlin."
"Hey!", protested Greglin, "I'm right here......"
"But, he does have a tendency to make messes. Anyway, what's your connection to this little wiffle-waffle?"
"Yeah!", stated Greglin, sticking his chest and chin out, "Wanna make something of it?". He was feeling strangely protective of Zali, but he didn't know why...
"It's a metaphor," Zali said, rolling her eyes at Rivern. "Ever heard of it?" she asked, mocking his tone when he had asked if they heard of 'It's A Small World After All.'
Rivern shrugged. "Just curious. Don't worry, I'm not gonna eat ya; I've already drank today. Now please answer the question."
"I just said, it's a metaphor. We haven't done actual crimes. Right?" Zali said, nudging the halfling.
"Speak for yourself....", mumbled Greglin looking at his fingernails innocently.
Greglin began involuntarily appraising the jewellery and possessions he could see the vampire had.....
Rivern was looking at Zali, when he felt a strange prickling on his skin. He turned to see Greglin admiring his loot. Just to see what would happen, he drained the blood that was his clothes, leaving him buck naked. xP
Greglin blanched with slight embarrassment at getting caught out, then smiling, looked up at the vampire and winked "Cold out tonight is it?".
