Just a note~ My reserve for Duty and Desire has come to my library so I will be picking it up today. Can't wait to start it.
I love Pamela Aidan's trilogy. I grabbed them when she was self-publishing and they're my go-to comfort read after I finish the original. My favorite authors besides Jane Austen are Georgette Heyer (Venetia, Frederica, Black Sheep), Barabara Metzger, Carola Dunn, Carla Kelly, Jude Morgan and anyone who writes witty, sweet romances.
Will have to try some of those. I know Carla Kelly is good, but she messaged me after my 5-star review of her book 'Mrs.Drew Plays Her Hand',to let me know that not all are clean nor free of god-talk, just the ones by Cedar Fort and Signet publishing houses.
I like "These Old Shades" and "Devil's Cub" by Georgette Heyer. Claire Darcy wrote some good regencies, too.
marion Chesney wrote quite a few series of 6 books that were sweet and innocent romances. my fav author is georgette heyer. I like a well written book that is sweet and makes me laugh. thanks for everyones input on new authors to read. when one doesn't like smut - it is much more difficult to get a good read.

However,I love Jane Austen!
I saw the film adaptions of her books long before I ever read the books.
Besides her books,I would have to say that I am loving reading the retelling of her Pride and Prejudice in the trilogy told from Mr. Darcy's point of view by Pamela Aidan,of which I have just read the first book so far.Getting ready to read the second.
