Bethany (justbethany) The first apocalyptic/dystopian novel I read that really made an impression on me was The Forest of Hands and Teeth. Since then, I gravitate to almost anything set in the future with an oppressing element.

Hi, I'm Bethany, your moderator. :-) If you have any questions about this group feel free to message me.

Gordon Houghton (gordon_houghton) Hello!

It's impossible to list a *favourite* favourite book, but the list would include Passage (Connie Willis), Breakfast of Champions (Vonnegut), The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Kundera), and 1984, the last of which is at least dystopian. :)

I'm an author from England, and have written a couple of dystopian novels myself. I love all kinds of fiction, but SF is a big favourite right now, and I'm currently working my way through the wonderful SF Masterworks series.

Dystopian books suit my melancholy nature and pessimism about the future. :) The ones I particularly like (apart from Orwell and Brave New World) are: Fahrenheit 451, anything in the genre by Philip K Dick, and Where Late The Sweet Birds Sang. I love post-apocalyptic stories, too.

And I joined this group for the same reason I joined Goodreads: to meet people who love books and find recommendations for future reads. :) So The Forest of Hands and Teeth is a good one, particularly since I discovered it also includes zombies...

Greetings everyone, The names Nick Smith. Pleased to meet all of you. It feels like I have written about 100 bios as of late and I am tempted to just paste my author link in here, but since I am a moderator I won't and I will keep this short.
I'm from the heart of the good Midwest, living in the concrete jungle of Des Moines, and oasis scrunched between millions of acres of agriculture.
When I’m not working or training for triathlons I am usually writing or looking for a new book. I read and write dystopian and post apocalyptic literature with a mix of science fiction. I believe the most interesting story is one we make up—one within our minds that grows into something worthy for others to read.
At any rate, welcome to the group and feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thanks – Nick

Bill (blockeisu) | 2 comments Hello, my name is Bill and I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I am excited to join this group, as I have been fascinated with dystopian novels for a while now. I have always enjoyed books such as 1984, Animal Farm and other contemporary authors.

I have always enjoyed many types of genres, from mysteries, non-fiction, thrillers or humor. Recently I have become a fan of several Scandinavian mystery authors, especially Jo Nesbo.

Thank you for creating the group and I am glad to be here!

✨ Star Shine✨ (starrshine773) | 6 comments hey you guys! I'm Crystal from south Carolina. I've been stuck on post apocalyptic books for a while now. just finished The Passage last month and almost through Wool by Hugh Howey, which is fantastic! by the way! I think I dig post apocalyptic stories because it strips us down to pure humanity. all the crap that defines us as a society such as our hair, clothes, what we drive, where e work, age, sex, religion, etc goes out the window and we're left with our true human forms, making alliance's and forming human bonds based on a common goal. I'm excited to see the going ons in this group! =) and lastly,
hello everybody! nice to meet you guys =)

Sharon Toler Howdy fellow members! I'm from Texas and enjoy all types of books. My favorite Science Fiction post-apocalyptic books are Wool Omnibus and Enclave.
These books were unique, which is a quality hard to find in books of any kind.

Hey all

My name is Noah Fregger and I'm the author of Gabriel's Watch, a little post-apoc, sci-fi novel.

I live in Palo Alto California, and spend far too much time working as a mechanic when I should be writing, which is my true passion.

I must confess that I've not read too much dystopian. When I was in the Navy I fell in love with Odd Thomas, and went on to read about twenty some-"odd" more Dean Koontz books. I'm a fan of Joe Shreiber at the moment. Gotta love zombies and Star Wars, intertwined to a guilty sci-fi pleasure.

I look forward to hanging out and meeting you people. Thanks for having me.

message 11: by Alex (new)

Alex (acobaf) Hey everyone!

Names Alexandra! Though everyone calls me something different, Alex, Alexis, Lex and so on! I answer to all of them though!

I'm currently residing in Alabama, husband made me move out here and so far I don't hate it, but I miss home (Oregon) I'm not into hot and humid but the sweet tea almost makes it worth it!

Favorite book or series is a frequent question on goodreads and always one I answer the same, I can't choose. For me it's like asking a mother which of her children is her favorite, impossible to answer. But I have a favorite genre and that's dystopian. Well this month it is lol.

I joined because when I was going through groups and saw this one I liked the description, it looked like it was right up my alley. I like finding new books or indie authors and this group seems like it will help!

Hope to chat with y'all more!

Handra_p | 2 comments Hi! I was looking for groups to join and this one seemed perfect! I like in Newcastle, in the UK (just moved here!) so any fellow Brits -- hello! I especially enjoy post-apocalyptic sci-fi because it's a whole new world of unimaginable wonder, especially from good writers. At any rate, it's my favorite genre right now. But that changes monthly, so we'll see.

Like others here have mentioned, Wool is a current favorite, by Hugh Howey. Tau Zero, is also a classic I just read and absolutely loved. My newest darling, and I can't recommend strongly enough, is Linked by S.K. Newton. It's very new, it's set 11,000 years in the future, which is a daring feat for any author, but he masters it brilliantly. The plot was rich and intricate, and the characters an absolute delight. I think the author is indie but not sure because it's coming it print in a few months. I don't usually go for indie authors, but this was worth the gamble.

I look forward to meeting more friends and lovers of the end of the world!

Liz Bell | 2 comments Hello. My name is Liz and I'm a totally paranoid believer in government conspiracies. Wrote about it but not allowed to post here. If anyone is looking for answers, I've been researching this for years now. Here are a few forums/people/movies

People
Alex Jones
Jesse Ventura
David Icke
Svali (an escaped member of the Illuminati)

Movies with Illuminati symbolism. MOST OF THEM! just look for it while you're watching a movie.
-Disney especially

Books
Bloodlines of the Illuminati (Rockefeller, Kissinger) control all of the major corporations and media for brainwashing. I have to gather all the things I researched just thought I'd get started. I'll be back!
