My best MG read for April was
Diary of a Penguin-napper by Sally Harris
Diary of a Penguin-napper by Sally Harris

It was a fun story that provided some good laughs. Here's a link to my review.

I would have to agree, I really enjoyed the book too.

Cheryl (cherylllr) I'm not sure why I hadn't already read these, but I'm very glad I finally did. A bit like Indian in the Cupboard but the child (and others) participate in the adventure, so the themes are a little different. Also, I've now discovered that Winthrop writes for all ages and is worth reading no matter the subject.

The Castle in the Attic The Battle for the Castle
The Castle in the Attic (The Castle in the Attic, #1) by Elizabeth Winthrop The Battle For The Castle (The Castle in the Attic, #2) by Elizabeth Winthrop

E.S. Ivy (esivy) | 133 comments I finally did some MG reading for fun again and I really enjoyed Kat, Incorrigible (Kat Incorrigible, #1) by Stephanie Burgis Kat, Incorrigible

It's a girl adventure book full of magic and adventure, and not too scary, for a spunky heroine. I found it to be exceptionally well written. There's a great review here that led me to this book: http://reads4tweens.com/kat-incorrigi...

Cordelia Dinsmore (cordeliadinsmore) | 105 comments I think it was a tie between Better Nate Than Ever and The View From Saturday. I gave each of them five stars, so I'm not sure if that means they tied or not. They were both quite enjoyable.

Kai Strand (goodreadscomkai_strand) | 15 comments I enjoyed the fun spirit and adventure in Geeks, Girls and Secret Identities by Mike Jung and also enjoyed the adventure and mystery in A Pirate, A Blockade Runner and a Cat (which for some reason won't come up in the search - sad face). I loved the Blockade Runner ghost.

Beth Listening for Lions by Gloria Whelan was a very good book. It's been at our library forever and nobody had ever checked it out. It went on my bookmark of books to read during the summer for my 5th graders. Now it will get checked out!

The Crowfield Demon. This is a sequel to the Crowfield Curse. Great series for boys, fun and fast paced and just the perfect amount of creepy without being gory. The Crowfield Demon (Crowfield Abbey, #2) by Pat Walsh

M.G. King (mgking) | 727 comments Liar and Spy by Rebecca Stead

Liar & Spy by Rebecca Stead. Interesting characters with Stead's signature twist at the end. Not as good as WHEN YOU REACH ME, with the time travel elements, but it was a good story.
