I may have an opportunity to read (from my books) at the University Bookstore in Seattle on July 25th, as part of an advance promo for the meet up. My problem is I don't have a car right now, and I won't have one by July. My sister is either unable or unwilling to help, despite going to Seattle every other weekend or so. (I haven't determined which yet.) So I was wondering if anyone would be willing to give me a lift ..? I'd pay for gas, lunch, everything. And I feel super pathetic for asking, but I appear to be more limited in my options than I thought.

Oh, any other day and I could have taken you. I'll be heading to Cascade Writers Workshop that morning. If you can't find anyone let me know. I have one of my betas, and good friends, who might be willing to take you. We are only 30 minutes from Tacoma towards the mountain.
Andrea, if they move you for any reason to another day, let me know. Cascade is the only thing I have that month, and my August is pretty free too. I always have fun at workshops, they never know what to do with me, or why I decided to attend! LOL. I wish I could find a roommate, but alas I will be going by myself.Have fun at your reading and as I said, if you can't find a ride let me know and I'll ask my friend.
Andrea, hi. I actually am in Lacey, but I'd be willing to help. I'm not sure what time your reading is, but if it's at night (dusk or dark) you would have to do the driving, unless my daughter comes with. (I'm developing cataracts, and although I usually am fine, I don't trust my night vision right now. It's an easy car to drive.) Let me know if I'm your best source. :) Andrea wrote: "I may have an opportunity to read (from my books) at the University Bookstore in Seattle on July 25th, as part of an advance promo for the meet up. I'm just jumping in to say that the July 25 reading event will most likely start at 7pm, so a planned arrival time at 6:30 would be great. It will probably go until 8:30/9:00pm.

Oh, thank you Lou, but I couldn't accept your offer, as generous as it is. Driving near or after dark with cataracts is no bueno. (I know, my mother had cataracts.) You're getting treatment for them, right?
I live in Seattle and would be honored to pick you up and drive you up here and back. I love to drive. I listen to books on tape and sometimes I don't even want to stop! My foster daughter may still be in rehab in Tacoma at that time and I could swing in a visit to see her beforehand. But you first have to tell me whether you pronounce your name ANN-dree-a or on-DRAY-a first so I don't make a fool of myself. (I'm sure there are other ways to pronounce it, too. Those are the two I've heard.)
PM me if you still need me. Seriously, it would be fun.
Thank you! But I should really close this thread, as the uncertainty of how I would get there combined with the fact that I might not be able to get time off from my day job added u p to me cancelling. I'll be doing a reading on September 13th instead. I hope your foster daughter is doing well. And Andrea's pronounced the first way, although everybody I know just calls me Andy. (I seem to be more of an Andy. I'm okay with that.)

I'll go ahead and close the thread. No worries, Andrea.
And no worries to those who are looking forward to a Andrea Speed reading event. (Speed reading...heh...) She'll be part of our Sept. 13 event at the University Bookstore (so the night before the Meet-Up!) I'm looking forward to seeing how many gay romance fans we can squeeze into that bookstore. :)
