Do you like a happy ending? Did this book have one?

Hmm...that second question's a tough one, and it depends a lot on how you read the final pages of the book. I think in terms of each of the main characters (Little Bee, Sarah, and Charlie/Batman) finding their personal resolution in the story, it was a happy ending. There was a sense of peace at the end, even if it wasn't exactly a happy ending.

I've read other books that ended in similar fashion to this one, and I think it works much better than being told flat out what happened. We know what happens because we've read the story and learned the history of these characters, so we don't need to be told point blank how it plays out. I found that the slight ambiguity at the end made for a stronger ending to the story.
