Fiala Bumpers (arespostale) | 10 comments Fiala Bumpers (arespostale) | 6 comments So a bunch of girls are placed in this boarding school or mental facility or whatever it is behind a huge wall, closed off from the public eye. They are not allowed to leave, and they are all pretty miserable, forced to dress in rags. The main female protagonist defies the people in charge in order to help save everyone, and she is locked away in a basement/cellar under the building behind the wall. Her friends find her in bad shape, and she says the only thing that keeps her going is knowing that people remember her. Her friends hesitate and she asks them if everyone remembers her, and when they tell her that they'd all forgotten her, she dies from the shock. This all happpens (this part is my guess) when the institute is first opened for the public ( I believe the mayor was there). The dead girls friends carry her out to the crowd and the smaller child who struggled to carry the girls body up a stage makes a speech.
I read this book in middle school.
Also I am not sure, but I think a rose or some other flower was a part of the plot. I may be mistaking this detail from another book though.

Goge (BARRONS) le Moning Maniac, | 256 comments That's horrible. Definitely would leave an impression. I'm sorry I haven't read this. I'll try to find it from your info though. Hope you find it:)

Fiala, did you post this before? Because there was another posting about this book about a week or so ago.

Fiala, here's the link to the previous thread about this book.

It often helps to keep the thread going by bumping i every few weeks to keep it fresh in our mind and for those who arrive new on the list.

Books are found when they want to be found. Sometimes it happens in three minutes, and sometimes it takes three months or three years. Just be sure that people are looking. So far, you've had 34 people take a look, and more will come. We love solving books here!

Yes we really do love to solve the mystery and reunite readers with lost friends.

Fiala--you don't need to start a new thread each time. Just go into your old thread and type BUMP (or list some new factoid that you've thought of) and that will put it back at the top of the list.

Anytime you make a new comment, your thread moves to the top of the list (until someone else makes a comment on a different thread). So you can type the word "bump" as your new comment.

Adding new details to your original post doesn't show as a new post. Speaking for myself, I often miss details added to the original post because I jump down to see what the new messages are. It's better to add additional details as a new comment.

Good luck in your search. I'm looking forward to reading the book myself, once it is identified.

So am I--even though it seems like more than a bit of a downer, but the way you've described it has me really curious about the entire book.
