That's horrible. Definitely would leave an impression. I'm sorry I haven't read this. I'll try to find it from your info though. Hope you find it:)
Fiala, did you post this before? Because there was another posting about this book about a week or so ago.
Fiala, here's the link to the previous thread about this book.

It often helps to keep the thread going by bumping i every few weeks to keep it fresh in our mind and for those who arrive new on the list.
Books are found when they want to be found. Sometimes it happens in three minutes, and sometimes it takes three months or three years. Just be sure that people are looking. So far, you've had 34 people take a look, and more will come. We love solving books here!

Yes we really do love to solve the mystery and reunite readers with lost friends.
Fiala--you don't need to start a new thread each time. Just go into your old thread and type BUMP (or list some new factoid that you've thought of) and that will put it back at the top of the list.

Ohh. I didn't know that. Thank you for telling me :)

Okay so how do I do this bump thing? I also tried writing new facts, but it didnt move the post up :(
Anytime you make a new comment, your thread moves to the top of the list (until someone else makes a comment on a different thread). So you can type the word "bump" as your new comment.
Adding new details to your original post doesn't show as a new post. Speaking for myself, I often miss details added to the original post because I jump down to see what the new messages are. It's better to add additional details as a new comment.
Good luck in your search. I'm looking forward to reading the book myself, once it is identified.

So am I--even though it seems like more than a bit of a downer, but the way you've described it has me really curious about the entire book.

I see, so that's what you meant! Thank you so much :)

I read this book in middle school.
Also I am not sure, but I think a rose or some other flower was a part of the plot. I may be mistaking this detail from another book though.
